Just stepping out on the path? Looking to deepen your connection to your patron deity, or to explore what that might feel like? Devotion is a central aspect of most magical paths, but one that is written and talked about much less than ritual or intention. Many of us carry a lot of baggage and resistance around words like “prayer” and “faith,” but these have proven essential technologies to awaken the inner forces latent in our human potential. In this class, we will explore the three ladders of prayer, how to set up and work with a devotional altar, devotional practices and meditations, and the goal and purpose of devotion. Having studied, practiced, and received teaching within a wide variety of magical and mystical traditions – from Sufism to Druidry and many things in-between – this course is informed by diverse belief systems and accessible to anyone with a inner sense of longing for connection, regardless of background. Devotion is not about belief, it is about experience – and how to come into a direct experience of the Presence of deities (or saints, spirits, or archangels) will be the focus of this class.

Connor Khalil Marvin is a poet, instructor and occult scholar living in Lafayette, CO. They are an initiate of a Kabbalistic-Sufi order and a Druidic order, hold an undergraduate degree in Contemplative Psychology from Naropa University with a minor in Yoga Studies, and are working on completing a Neuro-Linguistic Programming Practitioner certification. They currently work as a House Witch at Ritualcravt, read Tarot professionally, and create planetary talismans for clients. Their magical practice is informed heavily by Hermetic Qabbalah as well as Renaissance angelology, planetary magic, and geomancy. They taught meditation and poetry to young people experiencing homelessness in Denver for almost three years, and have taught online classes on magic and divination. They believe that mysticism is the apex of magic and magic is the apex of mysticism.
