Mullein is grief medicine. Traditionally these torches have been burned in an effort to thin the veils so we can receive messages from other worlds.
Michelle has been making these torches for many years and has created a way to replicate this age-old craft. Mullein, a plant native to Europe and Asia, was brought to the Americas with the white settlers. Unfortunately, it is so happy here that it is choking out native species. In Colorado it has been labeled an ‘invasive weed.’ These plants die after they bloom so Michelle harvests the dried stalks carefully, making sure not to spread seeds. Once collected and cleaned, she brings them to class where you will add your magic, prayers, dried herbs and flowers and finally dip the stalks in pure, ethically sourced beeswax from organic farms. Participants will leave with two torches and the know-how to make many more.
Mullein burns hot and slow so these torches can often burn with a tiki torch like flame for up to an hour. They should only be lit outdoors and away from dried grasses and brush of any kind.
