Pagans often discuss how many of the most iconic Christmas traditions have been ‘borrowed’ from ancient pagan practices. Perhaps the most notable of those traditions is the ‘Christmas’ wreath. Evergreen wreaths were used in winter solstice and Yule celebrations for thousands of years pre Christianity. A wreath’s circular shape is never ending. It represents the end of one year and the beginning of another. It represents the return of the sun, which hundreds of years ago meant the return of hope and harvests. Similarly, evergreens symbolize life. These trees, unlike everything around them, stayed green and fresh even during the longest nights and most bitter cold.
For this class Michelle will locally gather many varieties of greens as well as source other magical branches and herbs for your wreaths. Everyone will leave with one beautiful wreath and the skills to make many more.
