SUMMARY:{VIRTUAL} Invoking the Muse: A Form of Automatic Writing

This class is not an in-person class\, it is a live\, online only offering. Your zoom link will be attached to your ticket. Class fees are non transferable\, we stick to the student agreements agreed upon during registration. Registration closes one hour prior to class beginning. \n  \nFor those who want to learn a way to “get out of their own head” when writing creatively\, I will teach you how to let your intuition work as your muse to assist you in the writing process. I’ll share exactly what has worked for me—including how I wrote two books plus several fairy tales using this approach—and guide you through trying these techniques to help you write more freely and without self-judgment. \nUnderstanding that editing is a separate step for later\, we will focus purely on the act of creating ideas and the raw\, potent magic of the first draft. We will begin with guided imagery\, using visual keys to unlock the gate to the endless stories floating out there\, waiting for the perfect teller. \nYou will have time during the workshop to practice and are encouraged to share your work for supportive feedback\, either in the session or privately with me after the class concludes. You’ll also receive “The Seeds of Stories”\, a downloadable handout with additional story starters and writing prompts. \n  \nYOUR INSTRUCTOR \nSusan Redington Bobby\, the founder of Professor of Words\, LLC\, is an online teacher\, a freelance editor\, a writing mentor\, and a tutor. Her specialty is being able to read people on a deeper level through their writing\, and she has recently completed a certificate course on integrative somatic trauma therapy.  She is a retired professor of English with expertise in fairy tales\, adolescent literature\, goddess archetypes\, magical realism\, creative writing\, and film studies. She is the author of Beyond His Dark Materials\, the editor of Fairy Tales Reimagined\, and co-editor of The Artemis Archetype in Popular Culture. The Series Editor of Tales from Fiddler’s Green\, she also occasionally publishes creative fiction. She is currently studying the Bardic Course in Druidry from OBOD. She maintains Mellie’s Grove\, a certified NWF backyard wildlife habitat that is home to a rescued and small stabilized cat family and all manner of wildlife.
