SUMMARY:{VIRTUAL} Folklore and Spirits in Southern Folk Magic
DESCRIPTION:PLEASE READ: VIRTUAL ZOOM CLASSES OPERATE AS LIVE CLASSES ONLY\, WE DO NOT RECORD TO PROTECT THE INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY OF OUR TEACHERS. This class is not an in-person class\, it is a live\, online only offering. Your zoom link will be attached to your ticket. Please also check your junk\, spam and promotions folders in your email for your ticket. Email learn@ritualcravt.com with any questions. Classes are in MDT time zone. Class fees are non transferable\, we stick to the student agreements agreed upon during registration. Registration closes one hour prior to class beginning. \n  \nWe often wonder what goes bump in the night. The blue bottles in the yard high in the trees\, the haint blue porch ceilings\, and the Man at the Crossroads\, bringing to life the rich folklore that is in the South of the United States. In this class\, we will be discussing the folklore associated with the southern part of the country\, where these myths and spirits originated from\, and how to combat them if necessary. This class will equip each student with a knowledge of how to work the land in which these creatures dwell\, and how to defend oneself magically if need be. \n  \nYOUR INSTRUCTOR \nGabriel Varzalyi-Lopez is a biracial Virginia-born folk practitioner\, a devotee to his ancestors\, spirits of nature\, and the God and Goddess of his mother and father. He is a seer\, diviner\, spiritual medium\, and conjurer trained in the Marigny neighborhood of New Orleans. While being dedicated to his spiritual work for over a decade\, while also assisting the community in his legal profession through his daily life\, Gabriel sees the balance that both the spiritual world and material world have in the progression of someone’s life. Born from a lineage of witches\, orthodox priests\, farmers\, artists\, and at times rebellious characters\, he understands the process by which messages are received from Spirit\, allowing for a different type of magical work to occur. Gabriel is also a writer for Witches Magazine under his mundane alias\, an independent magazine based in the United Kingdom. An adventurous spirit\, Gabriel feels and hears the call of spirit through winding southern brooks and on high mountain peaks\, observing the simple magics that each of us cherishes in our everyday lives.

Please ensure you are able to attend the scheduled class time. \nStep into the apothecary kitchen and learn the spirited art of crafting Fire Cider\, a bold vinegar tonic alive with heat\, sweetness\, and old kitchen magic. Rooted in the people’s herbalism movement\, Fire Cider is a beloved “crossover” recipe\, part food\, part medicine\, and part living tradition. \nIn this hands-on class\, students will explore what Fire Cider is\, why it has become such an enduring herbal legacy\, and how its story reminds us that folk remedies belong in the hands of the people. DESCRIPTION:PLEASE READ: This class is IN PERSON. TICKETS ARE NOT TRANSFERABLE. Class fees are non transferable\, we stick to the student agreements agreed upon during registration. Please ensure you are able to attend the scheduled class time. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\nSeptember: \nNot Every Haunting Is a Ghost: How to Identify Spirits in Haunted Places \nA haunting is not a diagnosis. \nToo often\, every strange presence gets labeled as a ghost\, a demon\, or “bad energy.” But different spirits have different needs\, different patterns\, and different ways of making themselves known. \nIn this class\, we will explore the spirits most often encountered in haunted locations\, including lost souls\, poltergeists\, land spirits\, angry human spirits\, and the beings commonly mistaken for “evil spirits.” \nYou will learn how to identify what may be present\, understand what it may want\, and respond with more skill instead of fear\, assumption\, or force. \nJoin us each month to build real paranormal skills through grounded teaching\, guided practice\, and direct experience with the unseen. These evenings will help you explore the paranormal with confidence while becoming part of a growing community of seekers. \nYOUR INSTRUCTORS: \nKaedrich Olsen has a lifetime of experience exploring the spirit world and more than 30 years teaching and guiding others in the paranormal arts. Growing up in a haunted house and attending a spiritualist church\, he developed early skills in séance work and spirit communication. Today he helps others understand paranormal experiences\, communicate with spirits responsibly\, and navigate the unseen world with clarity and confidence. \nNelly Olsen has had a connection with the spirit world since childhood. After growing up in a religious environment that discouraged these experiences\, she later reclaimed her abilities through years of study\, practice\, and deep personal work. Today she is known for her clear communication with spirits and her work helping souls cross over and serving as a trusted guide for those seeking to better understand the paranormal.
