In this series\, we will explore the zodiac alongside the houses based on the traditional whole sign house system. It is easy to overlook the importance of the houses in a chart\, but understanding house significations WITH the zodiac\, unlocks another layer of meaning\, symbolism\, and divination in our astrological interpretations.  \nYou can expect the following topics covered in part II: Whole Sign House System\, Cancer/4th House\, Leo/5th House\, Virgo/6th House.  \n(It is not required to take all classes in the series\, and earlier classes are not prerequisites for later classes).  \n  \nYOUR INSTRUCTOR: \nBea (“bee”\, she/her) is a medium\, reader\, healer\, and seer. In this class\, we will look at the way in which protection and warding magic is used in this tradition and how to use it effectively. We will discuss the herbs and roots associated with protection and warding and techniques on how to protect yourself\, your home\, and the people we want to ensure their safety. We will go over protective charms associated with Southern Folk Magic and the differences between normal ordinary life challenges versus spiritual attacks. \n  \nYOUR INSTRUCTOR \nGabriel Varzalyi-Lopez is a biracial Virginia-born folk practitioner\, a devotee to his ancestors\, spirits of nature\, and the God and Goddess of his mother and father. He is a seer\, diviner\, spiritual medium\, and conjurer trained in the Marigny neighborhood of New Orleans. While being dedicated to his spiritual work for over a decade\, while also assisting the community in his legal profession through his daily life\, Gabriel sees the balance that both the spiritual world and material world have in the progression of someone’s life. Born from a lineage of witches\, orthodox priests\, farmers\, artists\, and at times rebellious characters\, he understands the process by which messages are received from Spirit\, allowing for a different type of magical work to occur. Gabriel is also a writer for Witches Magazine under his mundane alias\, an independent magazine based in the United Kingdom. An adventurous spirit\, Gabriel feels and hears the call of spirit through winding southern brooks and on high mountain peaks\, observing the simple magics that each of us cherishes in our everyday lives.

SUMMARY:{IN PERSON & VIRTUAL HYBRID} Self-Care for the Resistance: Generative Acts for Saturn in Aries

Please ensure you are able to attend the scheduled class time. \nWe are right in the thick of Saturn’s transit through Aries\, a movement that we only experience approximately every 28 years. This particular transit carries an exaggerated weight\, as Saturn is also co-present with Neptune in the sign of the ram. Things may feel both burdensome and thrilling\, like the offering of a great reset but with an unfathomable amount of work attached to it. How do we make the most of that reset\, maintain our momentum\, and rise to this occasion?  \nThis workshop will review Saturn’s current transit in Aries through a relational astrology lens\, identifying the planet’s archetypal powers\, potential challenges\, and key dates for turning points of its present expression. We will examine this through the manifestation of Saturn in Aries within our own charts\, using some guided journaling and reflecting exercises\, as well as somatic movement practices. The second half of the class will focus on ritualized self-care for navigating this transit\, including astro-herbal medicine preparations and wellness techniques.  \nYOUR INSTRUCTOR: \nIsabel Gareau (they/them) is a Tarot reader\, astrologer\, and Clinical Herbalist currently residing on traditional and unceded territories of Ute\, Cheyenne\, and Arapahoe Peoples in so-called Denver\, Colorado. They have been studying the esoteric arts for the past 12 years\, offering readings\, herbal care\, and classes to members of the community for the past seven. Isabel has been one of Ritualcravt’s resident practitioners since 2024\, and is a recent graduate from the Colorado School of Clinical Herbalism. Isabel also possesses a Bachelor’s of Science in Phytochemistry from Cornell University\, and has studied astrology with mentors such as Austin Coppock\, Demetra George\, and Pallas K. Augustine. Isabel’s primary focus is in astrologically-timed herbal medicine techniques\, decan-focused practice of astrology and Tarot\, and a holistic\, nervous system-centered approach to wellness.

For some of us who love to read and watch stories in this genre\, we feel called to create our own visions of beautiful darkness. To bring these tales to the surface\, we will ground ourselves in the origins and prominent voices of Gothic literature before diving into the bones of the Gothic story\, examining the most evocative locations and atmospheres\, the symbolic objects laden with the weight of memory\, and the monsters whose wounded pasts affect the way they reveal themselves in the present. \nInspired by the work of Guillermo del Toro in films like The Devil’s Backbone and Crimson Peak\, we will learn how to create a story where the setting lives and breathes\, the objects speak\, and the monsters both terrify and provoke empathy. We will also cover elements of craft—point of view\, tense\, color palette\, and the storytelling philosophy of Edgar Allan Poe—that will help you craft the architecture of your tale. You’ll leave class with a copy of The Cabinet of Curiosities\, which includes the frameworks\, key references\, and prompts that you can return to after our time concludes. \n  \nYOUR INSTRUCTOR \nSusan Redington Bobby\, the founder of Professor of Words\, LLC\, is an online teacher\, a freelance editor\, a writing mentor\, and a tutor. Her specialty is being able to read people on a deeper level through their writing\, and she has recently completed a certificate course on integrative somatic trauma therapy.  She is a retired professor of English with expertise in fairy tales\, adolescent literature\, goddess archetypes\, magical realism\, creative writing\, and film studies. She is the author of Beyond His Dark Materials\, the editor of Fairy Tales Reimagined\, and co-editor of The Artemis Archetype in Popular Culture. The Series Editor of Tales from Fiddler’s Green\, she also occasionally publishes creative fiction. She is currently studying the Bardic Course in Druidry from OBOD. She maintains Mellie’s Grove\, a certified NWF backyard wildlife habitat that is home to a rescued and small stabilized cat family and all manner of wildlife.

We will go over folk magic and more with emphasis on the ancestors as we near the end of the autumn and move closer to wintertide. We will discuss modern methods to utilize these practices on the lands we live on today in meaningful and beneficial ways. \n  \nYOUR INSTRUCTOR: \n\nMissy Johanna Rhysing is a Swedish-American woman who grew up in the Swedish diaspora in Minnesota\, and is the founder of Ritualcravt in Colorado. Her people hail from Scandinavia\, Bohemia/Czech Republic\, France and England. She places great importance on working with our ancestral root cultures as a means of reweaving folk magic and traditions to improve our lives and our relationships with the lands we live on today.\n\nMissy’s trainings include Trolldom\, Nordic spirituality and animism\, Swedish massage\, past life regression\, meditation\, shiatsu\, tattooing\, folk herbal and nutritional support\, and more. She facilitates community sauna ceremonies and is passionate about sauna culture. Missy has been offered the name Mästerinna as a tradition teacher in Trolldom\, and holds that close to her heart with great honor.
