This special seasonal offering will focus on a few basic yet powerful poetic forms with an eye towards making the writing itself accessible and easy for a beginner. \nWe will cover poems as short as 2-line types and a few longer forms as well as both rhyming and non-rhyming styles. You’ll get a detailed “Poet’s Grimoire” guide filled with lots of examples and spell-starters to help you find your flow. You’ll also get the opportunity in the workshop to practice writing in a safe and supportive environment. You will leave class with some ideas and samples you can use to enhance your spellwork. \nClass is open to beginners as well as those with a little experience seeking further guidance. Come prepared with a specific intention\, such as protection\, prosperity\, or a personal spring renewal\, and we can work together to weave it into verse. It’s a great opportunity to get out that gorgeous notebook you had to have but are waiting to use! \n  \nYOUR INSTRUCTOR \nSusan Redington Bobby\, the founder of Professor of Words\, LLC\, is an online teacher\, a freelance editor\, a writing mentor\, and a tutor. Her specialty is being able to read people on a deeper level through their writing\, and she has recently completed a certificate course on integrative somatic trauma therapy.  She is a retired professor of English with expertise in fairy tales\, adolescent literature\, goddess archetypes\, magical realism\, creative writing\, and film studies. I will share a keynote presentation on folk sauna culture- history\, rituals\, practices\, healing techniques\, folklore and more. I will discuss ways in which we can utilize this tradition in our modern lives\, as well as sharing my personal sauna rituals as a Swedish American trolldom practitioner in the hopes of inspiring others to remember and reweave these beautiful practices in beneficial ways on the lands we live on today. \n  \n\nYOUR INSTRUCTOR: \n\n\nMissy Johanna Rhysing is a Swedish-American woman who grew up in the Swedish diaspora in Minnesota\, and is the founder of Ritualcravt in Colorado. I’ll share exactly what has worked for me—including how I wrote two books plus several fairy tales using this approach—and guide you through trying these techniques to help you write more freely and without self-judgment. \nUnderstanding that editing is a separate step for later\, we will focus purely on the act of creating ideas and the raw\, potent magic of the first draft.
