This meet-up is designed to be a facilitated space for those interested in tarot\, not a “class.” There will be two facilitators\, current readers here at Ritualcravt – Andrea Carla and Reese Quinn.\nTarot meet-ups will start and end with ritual but then will be driven by you! Your facilitators will be there to offer topics for discussion\, hold space for questions\, encourage “practice” readings\, and provide time for intentional community building as it fits the group.\nPlease come with your tarot deck and your curiosity! \nYOUR INSTRUCTORS: \nAndrea’s fascination with reading cards began from a young age after being introduced to the Smith-Waite Tarot. From then on\, she began to explore different methods of divination and fell in love with Lenormand\, a system of cartomancy originating in late 18th century Europe. Andrea’s style of reading cards could be described as pragmatic and deeply rooted in tradition\, influenced by a true reverence for the sibyls of the past. As a teacher\, Andrea has both an academic and scholarly approach to the way that she presents her classes as well as sharing from her experiences and gnosis as a professional reader. She considers the Tarot to be a book of esoteric mysteries and has spent years of her life in studying and peeling back its many layers to share the knowledge and wisdom embedded in every card. \nReese Quinn (she/they) is a tarot and astrology reader and what they lovingly call a practical witch. They have a strong awareness of the crossroads between astrology\, cartomancy\, and elemental practices. You’ll note that Reese embraces their queer\, intersectional identities when both teaching and reading. Reese has been a reader at Ritualcravt for over two years and has studied with well-known witches like Lindsay Mack and Pam Grossman and well-respected teachers locally in Denver. In 2021-2022\, they completed an apprenticeship with best-selling author and reader of 20+ years\, Stefanie Caponi. Through this exploration\, participants will gain practical tools to recognize and harness the energy of specific places in their rituals and spiritual work. \nThe concept of psychogeography refers to the influence of geography on emotions\, behavior\, and in this case\, magical efficacy. This course will delve into how different spiritual traditions\, such as conjure\, Jewish mysticism\, and ceremonial magick\, perceive and interact with places like crossroads\, cemeteries\, sacred mountains and ritual spaces. The participants will examine how these locations serve as spiritual conduits or portals\, influencing both the practitioner and the spirits they invoke. The class aims to provide students with a deep understanding of the power of place in spiritual practices\, helping them connect with the magical potential of their environment. \nThe first part of the course will introduce the concept of psychogeography in magical practice. We will explore how geographical locations influence spiritual work and why certain places hold more power than others. The importance of sacred sites and liminal spaces across different magical systems will be discussed\, and students will learn to identify places of personal resonance that can enhance their rituals. \nIn the second part\, we will delve into conjure practices\, where the power of place is integral. The significance of crossroads\, cemeteries\, and natural waterways in conjure work will be explored\, as these locations are often seen as sites where the veil between worlds is thin\, allowing for potent spirit contact and magical workings. Practical exercises\, such as how to perform a crossroads ritual or collect graveyard dirt respectfully\, will be covered to give participants hands-on experience in engaging with these powerful spaces. \nIn the third part\, we will explore the role of place in ceremonial magick. Registration closes one hour prior to class starting. \n  \nA lot of people say winter months difficult. They seem to exist in a liminal space where I hear often of depression and listlessness. I would love to help you reframe this time by focusing on Hestia\, a goddess of hearth (which is Latin for focus) and home\, who cultivates wisdom and periods of connection with others on a similar path. \nHestia is the least known of the Olympians. She and Vesta\, her Roman counterpart\, are not even depicted in art in human form as much as they are symbolized in the flame\, dancing in the center of the home or other spiritual place. Learning about her and her archetype can provide you with the tools to make this often “darker time” be a fruitful place where you plant seeds and focus on what you need around you to feel as secure and safe as possible. We will focus on what is integral in your mind and body\, what resonates as most meaningful\, and use these touchstones as a guide to curate your own personal safe space\, which protects you and makes you feel whole. We often feel so overwhelmed\, but the Hestia archetype can teach us how to slow down\, to mindfully and meditatively complete our tasks. Furthermore\, a connection with her archetype can make us aware of those in the collective who are like-minded\, and help us practice discernment in choosing those we form a deep connection with\, in person or over the miles. \nHaving recently completed a program on integrative somatic trauma therapy\, I will provide some experiences with breathwork and visualization in a supportive safe space. I will also provide information on her as goddess\, as goddess archetype\, and offer ritual suggestions as well as ideas for meditative practices. \n  \nYOUR INSTRUCTOR: \nSusan Redington Bobby is a practicing witch and the founder of Professor of Words\, LLC\, where she is an online teacher\, an editor\, a writing mentor\, and a tutor. About this series: \nClass 1: Meeting the Plants as Ancestors \n“Plants are our ancestors that are still alive” – Lisa Fazio. \nPart 1 of “Plants as Ancestors” is in April\, having to do with how we can approach plants as teachers and as living spirits with respect. This will tie in conversations around being on stolen land\, land sovereignty\, and how we can see plants not just as tools to be used\, but living forces that have so much to teach us. \nWe will talk in this class about what ancestral allies can feel like and look like\, a no versus a yes\, and finding plants your ancestors may have had a connection with and learning more about plants as vessels to connect with our ancestors. Part one will focus on all the practical elements – identifying these plants and ethical sourcing\, working with flower essences and plant matter in different preparations\, and how we can invite these ancestral allies into our life to strengthen our connection with the ancestors. \nStudents will leave this class with an understanding of how to approach and work with plants as teachers\, and will be instructed to do so before part two of the meeting so we can share our experiences in identifying\, sourcing\, and connecting with plant teachers. \nClass 2: Plants as Ancestors: Plant Share Circle \nPart 2 of “Plants as Ancestors” is in May\, as we move into spring time. This class will follow up on the first class and hold space for students to share their experiences with a plant teacher. This can be a space to share frustrations\, difficulties\, or exciting experiences and confirmations that we may have had in working with this teacher. \nPlant Ancestor Share is geared towards holding space for the nuances in working with plants and building community – it will allow us to not only share our experiences\, but lean into a guided meditation to meet plant ancestors\, continuing to build relationships with plants we met\, and ensuring that all students feel heard in their concerns\, frustrations\, and confirmations. \nClass 3: Plants as Ancestors: Moving Through the World \nPart 3 of “Plants as Ancestors” will look into how to apply what we learned not only from the plants\, but as animistic practitioners who can continue to form relationships with all living things moving forward. These two companion films present unlikely heroic characters—children—who become the moral and symbolic center of the force that fights the oppressor\, breaking open the mundane world and imbuing it with the power of magic\, vanquishing evil. Though their mortal lives are tragically ephemeral\, these children heroically teach us about the immense power of magic in triumphing over the forces of darkness. Join me for a deep dive into these two films\, discovering deeper symbolism and meaning\, appreciating how del Toro affirms how formidable magic is in the face of forces that wish to dehumanize and subjugate us. These magical realist films are thus sources of inspiration for us through these dark times\, reminding us of the value of our own magic. She considers the Tarot to be a book of esoteric mysteries and has spent years of her life in studying and peeling back its many layers to share the knowledge and wisdom embedded in every card. \nReese Quinn (she/they) is a tarot and astrology reader and what they lovingly call a practical witch. They have a strong awareness of the crossroads between astrology\, cartomancy\, and elemental practices. You’ll note that Reese embraces their queer\, intersectional identities when both teaching and reading.
