In this class\, we will learn about the three main branches of tasseomancy\, and at the end\, we will hold a practicum on how to do a tea leaf reading! We will be diving into the deep and rich history of the modalities of the natural world\, along with learning the mystical component that comes from Spirit itself in these types of readings. Please come prepared with a teacup\, saucer\, and loose-leaf black tea for the lecture and practicum. \n  \nYOUR INSTRUCTOR: \nGabriel Varzalyi was raised by the women of his family\, and magic. Able to see spirits from a very early age\, his grandmother understood that he had the “sight”. Registration closes one hour prior to class starting. \n  \nA lot of people say winter months difficult. They seem to exist in a liminal space where I hear often of depression and listlessness. I would love to help you reframe this time by focusing on Hestia\, a goddess of hearth (which is Latin for focus) and home\, who cultivates wisdom and periods of connection with others on a similar path. \nHestia is the least known of the Olympians. She and Vesta\, her Roman counterpart\, are not even depicted in art in human form as much as they are symbolized in the flame\, dancing in the center of the home or other spiritual place. Learning about her and her archetype can provide you with the tools to make this often “darker time” be a fruitful place where you plant seeds and focus on what you need around you to feel as secure and safe as possible. We will focus on what is integral in your mind and body\, what resonates as most meaningful\, and use these touchstones as a guide to curate your own personal safe space\, which protects you and makes you feel whole. We often feel so overwhelmed\, but the Hestia archetype can teach us how to slow down\, to mindfully and meditatively complete our tasks. Furthermore\, a connection with her archetype can make us aware of those in the collective who are like-minded\, and help us practice discernment in choosing those we form a deep connection with\, in person or over the miles. \nHaving recently completed a program on integrative somatic trauma therapy\, I will provide some experiences with breathwork and visualization in a supportive safe space. I will also provide information on her as goddess\, as goddess archetype\, and offer ritual suggestions as well as ideas for meditative practices. \n  \nYOUR INSTRUCTOR: \nSusan Redington Bobby is a practicing witch and the founder of Professor of Words\, LLC\, where she is an online teacher\, an editor\, a writing mentor\, and a tutor. Her specialty is being able to read people on a deeper level through their writing. She is a retired professor of English with expertise in fairy tales\, adolescent literature\, goddess archetypes\, magical realism\, creative writing\, and film studies. She is the author of Beyond His Dark Materials\, the editor of Fairy Tales Reimagined\, and co-editor of The Artemis Archetype in Popular Culture. This meet-up is designed to be a facilitated space for those interested in tarot\, not a “class.” There will be two facilitators\, current readers here at Ritualcravt – Andrea Carla and Reese Quinn.  \nTarot meet-ups will start with a monthly topic discussion decided by your facilitators or the prior month’s group! Tarot decks will also be available to borrow if you do not have your own just yet! \n  \nYOUR INSTRUCTORS: \nAndrea’s fascination with reading cards began from a young age after being introduced to the Smith-Waite Tarot. From then on\, she began to explore different methods of divination and fell in love with Lenormand\, a system of cartomancy originating in late 18th century Europe. Andrea’s style of reading cards could be described as pragmatic and deeply rooted in tradition\, influenced by a true reverence for the sibyls of the past. As a teacher\, Andrea has both an academic and scholarly approach to the way that she presents her classes as well as sharing from her experiences and gnosis as a professional reader. She considers the Tarot to be a book of esoteric mysteries and has spent years of her life in studying and peeling back its many layers to share the knowledge and wisdom embedded in every card. \nReese Quinn (she/they) is a tarot and astrology reader and what they lovingly call a practical witch. They have a strong awareness of the crossroads between astrology\, cartomancy\, and elemental practices. You’ll note that Reese embraces their queer\, intersectional identities when both teaching and reading. Reese has been a reader at Ritualcravt for over two years and has studied with well-known witches like Lindsay Mack and Pam Grossman and well-respected teachers locally in Denver. In 2021-2022\, they completed an apprenticeship with best-selling author and reader of 20+ years\, Stefanie Caponi. Please ensure you are able to attend the scheduled class time. \n  \nThis class is a 3-part series taking place on April 18th\, 6-8pm\, May 27th\, 6:30-8:30pm\, and June 24\, 6-8pm. Please take note of these dates now! About this series: \nClass 1: Meeting the Plants as Ancestors \n“Plants are our ancestors that are still alive” – Lisa Fazio. \nPart 1 of “Plants as Ancestors” is in April\, having to do with how we can approach plants as teachers and as living spirits with respect. This will tie in conversations around being on stolen land\, land sovereignty\, and how we can see plants not just as tools to be used\, but living forces that have so much to teach us. \nWe will talk in this class about what ancestral allies can feel like and look like\, a no versus a yes\, and finding plants your ancestors may have had a connection with and learning more about plants as vessels to connect with our ancestors. Part one will focus on all the practical elements – identifying these plants and ethical sourcing\, working with flower essences and plant matter in different preparations\, and how we can invite these ancestral allies into our life to strengthen our connection with the ancestors. \nStudents will leave this class with an understanding of how to approach and work with plants as teachers\, and will be instructed to do so before part two of the meeting so we can share our experiences in identifying\, sourcing\, and connecting with plant teachers. \nClass 2: Plants as Ancestors: Plant Share Circle \nPart 2 of “Plants as Ancestors” is in May\, as we move into spring time. This class will follow up on the first class and hold space for students to share their experiences with a plant teacher. This can be a space to share frustrations\, difficulties\, or exciting experiences and confirmations that we may have had in working with this teacher. \nPlant Ancestor Share is geared towards holding space for the nuances in working with plants and building community – it will allow us to not only share our experiences\, but lean into a guided meditation to meet plant ancestors\, continuing to build relationships with plants we met\, and ensuring that all students feel heard in their concerns\, frustrations\, and confirmations. \nClass 3: Plants as Ancestors: Moving Through the World \nPart 3 of “Plants as Ancestors” will look into how to apply what we learned not only from the plants\, but as animistic practitioners who can continue to form relationships with all living things moving forward. This section of the class focuses on moving through the world not just recognizing plants as tools\, but plants as allies and how to continue to foster relationships with not just plants\, but all living spirits and ancestral allies. \nThis class will discuss animistic pathways in folk magic\, rituals and ways of being to honor our ancestors\, intentionality in our day-to-day\, and discussions around working ritual and ceremony into daily life. In this workshop you will learn about the restorative benefits of native plants and how to plant them to mitigate challenges of climate change and biodiversity loss. Danna will share how she approaches naturalistic garden design and tips to increase your odds of success with new plants. Please ensure you are able to attend the scheduled class time. \nCome learn about the science and magic of plant dyes while you create your own botanically dyed bandana. We will discuss fibers and plant pigments before diving into a variety of plants and design options. Using the bundle dye method\, we will steam and infuse botanicals into our bandanas. No experience is necessary\, all students receive 1 cotton bandana along with guidance and many flowers\, pigment rich plants\, and modifiers to create your own unique pattern. Students will take home their finished bandanas at the end of class. \nYOUR INSTRUCTOR: \nLeah\, of Round Trip Goods\, is a slow fashion designer and artist working with natural dyes and upcycled cotton.  She loves sharing her knowledge and passion for plant dyes and sustainable textiles with others through community building\, teaching\, art\, and fashion.

Registration closes one hour prior to class starting. \n  \nIn times of such upheaval in the world\, we need anchors and the feeling of being grounded to the ancient world. Trees are one such conduit by which we may feel connection and interdependence. Furthermore\, whether they are grand old trees at the center of a forest or a tree newly sprouted\, watered by the tears of its gardener\, trees hold a magical place in fairy tales. In addition\, when we feel lost and confused\, or fearful and anxious\, trees may be asked to be our protectors and protectresses. This lecture will bring trees and fairy tales together in an exploration of several classic fairy tales from different eras\, authors\, and parts of the world\, that center on trees as protectors and guardians. Some attention will be given to scientific research about the sentience of trees and their behavior\, which will show that what we may think of as fairy-tale magic when it comes to trees may actually be scientifically based. My hope for the class is that you will look at trees with newfound knowledge and appreciation for the way they ground and watch over us. I’d love for you to be inspired by this class to make connections with trees in your world\, on your land\, on walks or hikes you take\, to name them\, to form relationships\, and perhaps even to cultivate growth of new trees. Who knows\, maybe you’ll even be inspired to write your own fairy tale incorporating trees! \nYOUR INSTRUCTOR \nSusan Redington Bobby\, the founder of Professor of Words\, LLC\, is an online teacher\, a freelance editor\, a writing mentor\, and a tutor. Her specialty is being able to read people on a deeper level through their writing\, and she has recently completed a certificate course on integrative somatic trauma therapy.  She is a retired professor of English with expertise in fairy tales\, adolescent literature\, goddess archetypes\, magical realism\, creative writing\, and film studies. She is the author of Beyond His Dark Materials\, the editor of Fairy Tales Reimagined\, and co-editor of The Artemis Archetype in Popular Culture. The Series Editor of Tales from Fiddler’s Green\, she also occasionally publishes creative fiction. She is currently studying the Bardic Course in Druidry from OBOD. She maintains Mellie’s Grove\, a certified NWF backyard wildlife habitat that is home to a rescued and small stabilized cat family and all manner of wildlife.

Please ensure you are able to attend the scheduled class time. \n  \nHave you ever picked up an item and gotten a sense of the stories behind it? \nPsychometry involves receiving psychic impressions about an object\, person\, place\, or event by physically handling an item associated with them. The first hour of the circle will include basic information about the process\, the psychic senses that make psychometry possible\, and preparation for hands-on practice. The second hour will be spent in practice\, handling available items and seeing what impressions we get\, including if what we get can be verified. However\, this isn’t so much as “right and wrong” as it is about practice and having fun! \nThere will be a variety of items to practice with including found objects\, items that have been used in magical workings\, and those thought to be haunted or otherwise attached to a spirit. You are welcome to bring an item share\, so long as you are comfortable with it being handled by others. \n  \nYOUR INSTRUCTOR: \n\n\nSterling is passionate about helping others find inspiration and guidance through tarot\, communication with spirits\, and old-timey folk magic. \n\n\nSterling has been reading tarot since 1995 and began offering readings and teaching professionally in 2013. She doesn’t shy away from the trope of fortune teller. Sterling specializes in future-based readings. She’s had the ability to connect with spirits of the dead and the natural world since childhood and has been practicing folk magic since 2014. She is particularly influenced by her practice of and studies in the Scandinavian tradition of Trolldom. Sterling’s spirit communication style is a unique blend of classic mediumship techniques\, folk magic\, and paranormal investigation strategies. \nSterling also had a 20-year career as a professional advocate for survivors of crime prior to and holds a Master’s Degree in Advocacy and Political Leadership.
