Registration closes one hour prior to class beginning. \n  \nWe are holding a monthly gathering for those who wish to work on their crafts (knitting\, crocheting\, stitching\, jewelry-making\, writing\, drawing\, you name it!) in the shared space of a zoom call. We are seeking self-care\, community\, and creative expression in a group that will welcome and encourage conversation and connection\, though there is no requirement to speak or to even have your screen on if you’d rather be anonymous and just “be” with us! \nLet’s face it\, our world demands constant productivity often for the sake of others. I often think that we are led to believe “how can we craft at a time like this?” But this is precisely the moment to engage in what makes us feel happy and at peace. We will reclaim the energy and beauty of crafting for the sake of personal fulfillment and relaxation. All skill levels and craft mediums are welcome in these gatherings that will be like book clubs\, but for crafts. We will set a theme for each session so you can consider it or even journal on it before attending\, and in our meetings\, you will have an opportunity to share with others\, if you choose\, while I will facilitate. Note that these are not lectures or classes but more like free-form meetings in a safe space\, with 3 price levels so you can choose what works best for you economically. \nOctober’s Theme:\nOrigin Tales: think about how you were drawn to the craft you’ll bring to this meeting. How did you discover this passion\, and what kind of role has it had in your life thus far? Did getting into this craft connect you to other people\, or do you enjoy it because it is a solitary activity alone? \nYOUR INSTRUCTOR \nSusan Redington Bobby\, the founder of Professor of Words\, LLC\, is an online teacher\, a freelance editor\, a writing mentor\, and a tutor. Her specialty is being able to read people on a deeper level through their writing\, and she has recently completed a certificate course on integrative somatic trauma therapy.  She is a retired professor of English with expertise in fairy tales\, adolescent literature\, goddess archetypes\, magical realism\, creative writing\, and film studies. She is the author of Beyond His Dark Materials\, the editor of Fairy Tales Reimagined\, and co-editor of The Artemis Archetype in Popular Culture. The Series Editor of Tales from Fiddler’s Green\, she also occasionally publishes creative fiction. She is currently studying the Bardic Course in Druidry from OBOD. She maintains Mellie’s Grove\, a certified NWF backyard wildlife habitat that is home to a rescued and small stabilized cat family and all manner of wildlife.

How can folk practitioners and witches interact with and petition these beings that are well-known for being Catholic? How does Saint magic interact with folk magic that is syncretized with Catholicism\, and can folks who aren’t Catholic even work with Saints? \nJoin Frankie Castanea for this virtual conversation into Saints as holy beings\, energetic signatures\, faces for earlier entities\, and their role in Italian-American and other folk magics. We will discuss who the Saints are\, how and why to approach as non Catholics\, separating Catholicism from the Church\, folk Catholicism as a method of folk magic\, and what Saints to petition and when. \nThis class is perfect for those who have some hesitation around folk Catholicism and Saint magic\, those interested in beginning to explore Saint work in their practice\, and those looking for practical\, folk-magic-centric ways of petitioning the Saints. We will talk further about utilizing Christian methods of talking to Saints\, but also methods that stem from folk magic and folk Catholicism\, beginning to incorporate Saints into your practice\, and more. \n  \nYOUR INSTRUCTOR \nFrankie Castanea\, also known as Chaotic Witch Aunt\, is a practicing folk witch\, animist\, Italian American folk practitioner\, and spirit worker.  They have been on a journey of reconnection to culture and ancestral practices for almost five years now\, a practicing witch and diviner for almost a decade. Within this\, they have found a passion for learning and teaching Italian-American ways of being\, animism\, ancestors\, and spirit relationships. They have and continue to be a student of Lisa Fazio and Mary Beth Bonfiglio\, and have\, in the past\, learned from Austin Toney of Cat and Cauldron. They learn from being in community with other Italian-Americans and folk practitioners\, their own spirits\, and are driven by their ancestors in almost all things they do\, sharing their ways of reconnection and reconstruction via Instagram\, Youtube\, Patreon and their blog\, Chaotic Folk Magic\, through their website (chaoticwitchaunt.com). They run a small online shop of ancestral and folk magic guided wares\, believes in the power of the color red\, and reads tarot\, Italian playing cards\, and offers professional spell consultations at Ritualcravt in Wheat Ridge\, Colorado. They are the author of two books\, “Spells for Change” (2021)\, and their upcoming book “Ancestral Magic” (2025).

This meet-up is designed to be a facilitated space for those interested in tarot\, not a “class.” There will be two facilitators\, current readers here at Ritualcravt – Andrea Carla and Reese Quinn. \nTarot meet-ups will start and end with reflections on the past month’s tarot pulls\, a themed topic discussion\, and then will be driven by you! Your facilitators will be there to offer discussion areas\, hold space for questions\, encourage “practice” readings\, and provide time for intentional community building as it fits the group. \nPlease come with your tarot deck and your curiosity! \n  \nYOUR INSTRUCTORS: \nAndrea’s fascination with reading cards began from a young age after being introduced to the Smith-Waite Tarot. From then on\, she began to explore different methods of divination and fell in love with Lenormand\, a system of cartomancy originating in late 18th century Europe. Andrea’s style of reading cards could be described as pragmatic and deeply rooted in tradition\, influenced by a true reverence for the sibyls of the past. As a teacher\, Andrea has both an academic and scholarly approach to the way that she presents her classes as well as sharing from her experiences and gnosis as a professional reader. She considers the Tarot to be a book of esoteric mysteries and has spent years of her life in studying and peeling back its many layers to share the knowledge and wisdom embedded in every card. \nReese Quinn (she/they) is a tarot and astrology reader and what they lovingly call a practical witch. They have a strong awareness of the crossroads between astrology\, cartomancy\, and elemental practices. You’ll note that Reese embraces their queer\, intersectional identities when both teaching and reading. Reese has been a reader at Ritualcravt for over two years and has studied with well-known witches like Lindsay Mack and Pam Grossman and well-respected teachers locally in Denver. In 2021-2022\, they completed an apprenticeship with best-selling author and reader of 20+ years\, Stefanie Caponi. Registration closes one hour prior to class beginning. \n  \nYokai are supernatural entities from Japanese folklore.  They may take the form of apparitions\, creatures or phenomena.  In this class\, we will look at the spiritual frameworks that have led to our understanding of yokai\, how they have evolved through Japanese history leading up to pop culture depictions\, the different types of yokai and protective superstitions.  This class will include elements of storytelling to complement the lecture.  It is recommended\, but not mandatory to have taken Daily Japanese Animism & Majutsu as a primer for this class. \n  \nYOUR INSTRUCTOR \nAkemi Tsutsui-Kunitake is a visual artist\, karate-ka and creator of Live Deliciously. Based in Denver\, her work is informed by her identity as a third and fourth-generation (sansei-han and yonsei)\, mixed-race Japanese American. Her artwork blends themes of Japanese folklore with Western mysticism. She is inspired by the intersectionality of cultural tradition\, ancestral wisdom and modern identity. She is a lifelong student of Shotokan karate-do under the instruction of her father\, Isao Gary Tsutsui\, at Colorado Budokan. \nAkemi has also been fortunate to train with masters of other karate styles in California\, Hawaii and Japan. As karate embodies so many elements that are integral to the Japanese American experience\, she describes karate as her ethnic and spiritual identity in motion. With a formal education in Ethnic Studies\, Akemi has worked in the fields of culturally specific education\, advocacy and holistic health. She has continued her studies through courses on Japanese energetic healing\, Shinto\, deep ancestral work and radical community care. Akemi is a frequent collaborator with the Japanese Arts Network as a Cultural Consultant and artistic partner.

Humans have been honoring the dead and keeping the legacy of lost loved ones alive for thousands of years. \n• \nIn this class\, we will explore the topic of ancestral veneration from a cross cultural perspective\, as well as how to build a relationship and spiritual practice with your own ancestors in contemporary times. \n• \nThe Ancestors play more of a significant role in our lives than we may realize. In this presentation we will also learn about precautionary measures in ancestral work as well as learning the differences between what makes a venerated ancestor vs. in-tranquil spirits and how to safe guard your practice. From cleansing\, building an altar\, and techniques in communication\, you will gain a firm understanding in the complexities and nuances of ancestral work including a discussion about ancestral and intergenerational trauma. \n• \nAt the end of the presentation we will also fix and prepare a candle for your ancestors to help you begin your journey in ancestral veneration. \n  \nYOUR INSTRUCTOR: \nAndrea’s fascination with reading cards began from a young age after being introduced to the Smith-Waite Tarot. From then on\, she began to explore different methods of divination and fell in love with Lenormand\, a system of cartomancy originating in late 18th century Europe. Andrea’s style of reading cards could be described as pragmatic and deeply rooted in tradition\, influenced by a true reverence for the sibyls of the past. \n As a teacher\, Andrea has both an academic and scholarly approach to the way that she presents her classes as well as sharing from her experiences and gnosis as a professional reader. She considers the Tarot to be a book of esoteric mysteries and has spent years of her life in studying and peeling back its many layers to share the knowledge and wisdom embedded in every card.

Registration closes one hour prior to class beginning. \n  \nHaving taught several classes on these films apart from one another\, I thought that in honor of the current Halloween season I would offer a class covering both Bram Stoker’s Dracula (Dir. Francis Ford Coppola) and Only Lovers Left Alive (Dir. Jim Jarmusch)\, focusing in particular on the love stories at the heart of each film. Each story incorporates captivating themes\, such as forbidden love and cursed immortality\, as well as fairy-tale motifs and archetypes. In fact\, just as the world of fairy tales contains both classic and contemporary variants\, Count Dracula and Mina Harker’s love story is “classic”\, while Adam and Eve’s is “contemporary”\, utilizing post-modern elements and deconstructing various source texts. I’ll be talking about intertextuality\, looking at how each film references and reimagines literary inspirations\, costume design\, setting and atmosphere\, and what it is about these iconic relationships that holds us in thrall year after year\, sending us back for repeat viewings of our comfort films in which “Love never dies.” \n  \nYOUR INSTRUCTOR \nSusan Redington Bobby\, the founder of Professor of Words\, LLC\, is an online teacher\, a freelance editor\, a writing mentor\, and a tutor. Her specialty is being able to read people on a deeper level through their writing\, and she has recently completed a certificate course on integrative somatic trauma therapy.  She is a retired professor of English with expertise in fairy tales\, adolescent literature\, goddess archetypes\, magical realism\, creative writing\, and film studies. This 6-hour\, “drink from the firehose” workshop will explore all 78 cards of the tarot. We will go over the cards’ upright and reversed meanings and practice throwing spreads. All students will walk out with the 2nd revised edition of Sterling Moon’s Tarot 101 zine and the ability to start reading tarot regularly right off the bat! \nPlease bring a notebook\, writing utensil\, and a tarot deck based on the Smith-Waite-Rider. She doesn’t shy away from the trope of fortune teller. Sterling specializes in future-based readings. She’s had the ability to connect with spirits of the dead and the natural world since childhood and has been practicing folk magic since 2014. She is particularly influenced by her practice of and studies in the Scandinavian tradition of Trolldom. Sterling’s spirit communication style is a unique blend of classic mediumship techniques\, folk magic\, and paranormal investigation strategies. \nSterling also had a 20-year career as a professional advocate for survivors of crime prior to and holds a Master’s Degree in Advocacy and Political Leadership. What does it look like to remove problematic traditions and rituals and engage with them in a new way? What are the red flags as we build and find community\, and how can we be a better ancestor moving forward? They learn from being in community with other Italian-Americans and folk practitioners\, their own spirits\, and are driven by their ancestors in almost all things they do\, sharing their ways of reconnection and reconstruction via Instagram\, Youtube\, Patreon and their blog\, Chaotic Folk Magic\, through their website (chaoticwitchaunt.com). They run a small online shop of ancestral and folk magic guided wares\, believes in the power of the color red\, and reads tarot\, Italian playing cards\, and offers professional spell consultations at Ritualcravt in Wheat Ridge\, Colorado. Through exploring our previous lives\, we can move towards healing\, reclaiming\, and releasing in our current life. We can gather new understandings of patterns and behaviors\, reclaim gifts and strengths\, and even end commitments made in past lives that are no longer serving us.\nWe will begin with a brief discussion and explanation of past life work\, move into the meditation\, and end with a bit of processing and discussion.
