Although I am jumping a little ahead in the season by offering this class in January\, I think we need a breath of hope: Persephone is needed now more than ever. \nPersephone\, the dual-natured goddess\, represents both the innocent maiden and the experienced queen of the underworld. Her archetype is often connected with those who have undergone trauma and found a way to rise above it\, becoming stronger and more resilient. But sometimes we are triggered into the realization of how our innocence has been irrevocably harmed\, and our wounds\, though healed over\, still reside deep within us. Through them we can be dragged back into periods of overwhelming anxiety and depression. \nWhat I would like to offer is a way to make those two sometimes dueling sides of our natures meet and collaborate to make us whole. I want to help you cultivate a way to connect with that innocent maiden side and find its enormous power so that being pulled away from your tough-as-nails dark goddess of the underworld energy doesn’t break you down\, but instead re-invigorates you. \nIn this class\, I’ll cover aspects of the dual natures of the Persephone archetype\, apply that knowledge and understanding to our own experiences of lost innocence and cultivated experience\, and suggest ways we can reframe our connections with our “pre-trauma” selves that will empower us. Suggestions for Persephone-specific rituals and altar offerings will also be given. Having just completed a program in integrative somatic trauma therapy\, I will also provide some breathwork and visualization exercises. \n  \nYOUR INSTRUCTOR: \nSusan Redington Bobby is a practicing witch and the founder of Professor of Words\, LLC\, where she is an online teacher\, an editor\, a writing mentor\, and a tutor. Students will learn how to map key aspects of traditional magick and conjure onto the ten sephirot (emanations) to gain deeper insights into the spiritual principles underlying this expansive paradigm of folk magick. This meet-up is designed to be a facilitated space for those interested in tarot\, not a “class.” There will be two facilitators\, current readers here at Ritualcravt – Andrea Carla and Reese Quinn.\nTarot meet-ups will start and end with ritual but then will be driven by you! Your facilitators will be there to offer topics for discussion\, hold space for questions\, encourage “practice” readings\, and provide time for intentional community building as it fits the group.\nPlease come with your tarot deck and your curiosity! \nYOUR INSTRUCTORS: \nAndrea’s fascination with reading cards began from a young age after being introduced to the Smith-Waite Tarot. From then on\, she began to explore different methods of divination and fell in love with Lenormand\, a system of cartomancy originating in late 18th century Europe. Andrea’s style of reading cards could be described as pragmatic and deeply rooted in tradition\, influenced by a true reverence for the sibyls of the past. As a teacher\, Andrea has both an academic and scholarly approach to the way that she presents her classes as well as sharing from her experiences and gnosis as a professional reader. She considers the Tarot to be a book of esoteric mysteries and has spent years of her life in studying and peeling back its many layers to share the knowledge and wisdom embedded in every card. \nReese Quinn (she/they) is a tarot and astrology reader and what they lovingly call a practical witch. They have a strong awareness of the crossroads between astrology\, cartomancy\, and elemental practices. You’ll note that Reese embraces their queer\, intersectional identities when both teaching and reading. Reese has been a reader at Ritualcravt for over two years and has studied with well-known witches like Lindsay Mack and Pam Grossman and well-respected teachers locally in Denver. In 2021-2022\, they completed an apprenticeship with best-selling author and reader of 20+ years\, Stefanie Caponi.
