I will share a keynote lecture on the Autumntide\, with important timings\, holy days\, and ancestral practices that we can observe in the diaspora. We will go over folk magic and more with emphasis on the Ancestors as we near the end of the autumn and move closer to wintertide. We will discuss modern ways to utilize these practices on the lands we live on today. \nMissy Johanna Rhysing is an American woman practicing Nordic folk traditions in Denver\, CO and Mpls\, MN. Her people hail from Scandinavia\, Bohemia/Czech Republic\, France and England. She places great importance on working with our ancestral root cultures as a means of reclaiming and reweaving folk magic and medicine to improve our lives and our relationships with the lands we live on today.\nMissy’s trainings include Trolldom\, Nordic spirituality and animism\, Swedish massage\, past life regression\, meditation\, shiatsu\, tattooing\, folk herbal and nutritional support\, and more. Are you swept up in stories of fantasy? Would you like to write a story of your very own that rivals those you have enjoyed reading? I can teach you how to do it!\nFirst\, I’ll cover some of the basic differences between classic fairy tales versus contemporary or re-imagined tales. Then\, I’ll share some templates with you that I have created that will help you decide which type of story you’d like to tell. I’ll help you construct a rough outline/sketch of your story elements\, such as the major plot points\, the characters and their qualities\, the theme\, symbols\, and the like\, to assist you as you begin to write. After the class ends\, if you’d like to write your story in full\, I encourage you to reach out to me via email to share the tale\, and I’ll give you some supportive feedback (this is generously included in the class price).\nWhether you want to write the tale for yourself\, or to give it to another as a gift\, learning to write an original fairy tale is not as hard as it might seem if you have a fairy godmother offering assistance! \nSusan Redington Bobby is a practicing witch and the founder of Professor of Words\, LLC\, where she is an online teacher\, an editor\, a writing mentor\, and a tutor. Her specialty is being able to read people on a deeper level through their writing. Using aromas for 5 traditional perfume\nfamilies/accords (Chypre\, Amber\, Fougere\, Citrus/Cologne and\nRondeletia/Floral) we will explore their use for magic and intention\,\ncreating an oil based perfume to take home. The first half of the class\nwill be spent learning about over 25 essential oils\, resins and\nabsolutes and their properties. The rest will be hands-on immersive\nperfumery\, with as little or as much guidance as you need. All skill\nlevels are welcome\, and all supplies are provided except for pen and\npaper for note taking. Please ensure you are able to attend the scheduled class time. \n  \nThis class will begin with a look at Saint Expedite from a historical basis\, i.e.\, what we know vs. what we don’t really know and where there is variation from tradition to tradition. There will be brief coverage of the various related traditions worldwide and how Expedite is called and utilized before we move on to the traditions most familiar within the United States as they relate to hoodoo\, conjure\, the deep south\, and to a lesser extent Appalachia. Attention will be paid\, of course\, to the decidedly Christian origins of Saint Expedite\, though students will be encouraged to see beyond that limitation. Care will be placed to limit the amount of Christianity used\, where appropriate\, in an effort to encourage those who might avoid the power of the Saints due to trauma surrounding organized religion\, abuse\, and the church’s misuse of sacred power. This will set the foundation for the practicum\, where students will learn about altars\, offerings\, statues and prayer cards\, incense\, oils\, candles\, prayers\, devotions\, novenas\, spells\, talismans\, and the materia magicka associated with Saint Expedite. This two hour workshop aims to deliver the student not only the information needed to begin to work with Saint Expedite but the confidence to approach him immediately and begin a beneficial magickal relationship as soon as they get home! Each student will receive a dressed and blessed Saint Expedite prayer card to begin that relationship. \nWelburn Hiram Kemp hails from the dark and bloody ground of Eastern Kentucky. A born Appalachian\, Welburn was steeped in folklore\, folk magick\, and is from a long line of preachers and healers who brought old time remedies\, wisdom through religion\, and powerful magick holler to holler for nearly 200 years. The history of this movement is often forgotten today\, yet Natural Magic ideas form the basis of Witchcraft\, Folk Magic\, and many other forms of magical practice. \nFrom the middle ages to the renaissance\, the concept of “Natural Magic” arose in the work of magical writers like Cornelius Agrippa\, Hildegard of Bingen\, Al Kindi\, & Paracelsus. These writers’ perspectives often clashed with religious authorities even as they moved in tandem with proto-scientific investigations of the natural world. \nThis class will celebrate the forgotten history of the Natural Magic texts which form the backbone of witchcraft and magical thought today\, and introduce the broad strokes of several thinkers of the past around the Natural Magic concept\, along with providing many threads for further exploration by the curious. \nOn a practical\, hands-on level\, this class will investigate the connections between organic magical materials and their spirits\, as well as the ways magic practitioners interact within the interconnected web of beings that make up our world in order to weave the stories they wish to create. \n“The soul is a breath of living spirit that permeates the entire body to give it life. In truth\, spiders are a beautiful and integral part of our ecosystem. They also have a deep and complex mythological history. Learning more about their behavior\, life cycles\, and ecological impact can help us learn about our own place in this world and how to weave their energetic messages into our daily lives. \nJoin two passionate arachnid enthusiasts (Alessandra Dzuba of Oracle Natural Science\, and Jess Ellis of Atropos Curios) for an evening of Spider Magic. This class will include a short lecture and a hands-on tutorial\, all supplies will be provided. \nWe will discuss the biology and ecology of spiders\, as well as their spiritual symbolism and what we can learn from them energetically. We will dispel many of the misguided “facts” about spiders and help to foster a more empathetic view of how they affect our lives. Cicadas are both relatable and sometimes agitating with their eternal screaming into the aether. But why do they do this? And how often do they emerge from their long slumber underground? How does their life cycle work and why should we observe it? \nWe will answer many of the biological and behavioral questions about this creature as well as discussing the mythology and spiritual nature of these beautiful insects. Spring\, as we emerge into the warmer portion of the year\, is a perfect time to discuss cicadas. You will learn about how to build a connection with cicadas as related to the Eleusinian Mysteries and the myth of Persephone and Demeter. How is the cycle of life and death related to your own spiritual journey and the natural cycle of the biology that persists around us despite all odds? We will also discuss their messages of protection\, perseverance\, intuition\, independence\, and even music. \nThis is a class for learning about rebirth\, fortitude\, adaptability\, and the underworld through both a biological and spiritual lens. This class is a mix of lecture and hands-on demonstration. You will learn how to relax\, spread\, and pin your own cicada specimen which you will take home with you. We will also provide visual examples and brief explanations of how to keep your specimen at home for display. \nSupplies Included:\n-Sustainably sourced cicada specimen\n-Pinning board and pins\n-Educational materials and inspiration/ideas for how to display your specimen \n  \nJess is a Denver-based artist who creates small sculptures and jewelry using elements of nature.\nJess creates imaginative miniature worlds honoring elements of nature and science. These sculptures contain magic in the form of preserved insects\, bones\, stones\, moss\, and plants. Inspired by the natural curiosity assemblages of the Victorian Naturalists and the Wildlife Halls of modern science museums\, Jess hopes to inspire wonder\, curiosity\, and understanding for our natural world. Each piece she creates is a reminder of the beauty that lies in death and its importance in the cycle of life.\nJess teaches classes that stitch together magic\, art\, and science with an aim to inspire her students to to approach the world\, and their practice\, with endless curiosity. \nAlessandra\, owner of Oracle Natural Science is an Entomologist Enthusiast\, and Bone Memorialist\, winning 2019 Worlds Taxidermy Championships for skeletal articulations. She teaches our Entomology Classes along with being the host of Oracle’s Bug Club and more. Alessandra grew her fascination of insects and natural sciences as a child\, walking down to the Insectarium and Olympic gardens of Montreal\, Canada which their inspirations can be seen in all aspects of her work. While she spends her days at Oracle\, the rest of her time is split between working as an Artist Assistant at Staab Studios\, Pet Memorialist\, and as hobbyist arachnologists.

Please ensure you are able to attend the scheduled class time. \n  \nIn my lineage of Trolldom\, the folk magic of Scandinavia\, one of the ways in which we cast spells is by making a trollpåse or magical pouch. Join me live at Ritualcravt for an afternoon of casting spells for the Spring season! Please come with some ideas of what you would like to grow or cultivate more of in your life during the spring season. We will have a short lecture on traditional trollpåse\, discuss materia for magical bags\, and how to cast spells with them. All students will make atleast one bag to bring home. All materials will be provided. \nMissy Johanna Rhysing is an American woman practicing Nordic folk traditions in Denver\, CO and Mpls\, MN. Her people hail from Scandinavia\, Bohemia/Czech Republic\, France and England. She places great importance on working with our ancestral root cultures as a means of reclaiming and reweaving folk magic and medicine to improve our lives and our relationships with the lands we live on today.\nMissy’s trainings include Trolldom\, Nordic spirituality and animism\, Swedish massage\, past life regression\, meditation\, shiatsu\, tattooing\, folk herbal and nutritional support\, and more. Missy facilitates community sauna ceremonies and is passionate about sauna tradition and culture. She has been offered the name Völva\, or cunning woman\, and holds that close to her heart with great honor. Join two invertebrate enthusiasts for a hands-on introduction to Lepidotera. This class will teach you about the ecological\, environmental\, and spiritual importance of moths and butterflies (order Lepidoptera). You will learn about the ways in which butterflies and moths influence our lives today as well as a bit of their history in mythology and science. These incredible creatures can deliver important messages to us if we are open to listening\, and this class will give you a greater understanding of these animals. \nIn addition to the lecture portion of this class\, each student will be provided with the supplies and guidance needed to pin 1 beautiful sunset moth. You will bring home a foam pinning board\, your pinned insect\, and ideas on how to display these beauties in your home.
