It overlaps many other disciplines\, all expressed here though art. Specifically\, this is art that delivers practical information wrapping in a sensory visual experience. As we craft an ever-stronger working alliance with the cards\, magic happens.\nWe’ll begin with thorough orientations:\n—the Minor Arcana via the elements (Week 1)\n—the Court Cards for identity and connection (Week 2)\n—the Major Arcana with myths and archetypes (Week 3)\nand then take this material into\n—alliance-deepening personal work (Week 4)\n—reading the Tarot for yourself and for others\, and for maximum personal creativity and well-being (Week 5). \nThis series is for beginners and beyond. I will share a keynote lecture on the Summertide with important timings and events that we can observe in the diaspora. There will be great emphasis on Midsommar\, the high holiday of summer\, and I will share the history\, magic\, medicine\, folklore and rituals of this holy day past and present. We will discuss ways to utilize these ancestral traditions in modern ways on the lands we live on today. \nMissy Johanna Rhysing is an American woman practicing Nordic folk traditions in Denver\, CO and Mpls\, MN. Her people hail from Scandinavia\, Bohemia/Czech Republic\, France and England. Her archetype is often connected with those who have undergone trauma and found a way to rise above it\, becoming stronger and more resilient. But sometimes we are triggered into the realization of how our innocence has been irrevocably harmed\, and our wounds\, though healed over\, still reside deep within us. Through them we can be dragged back into periods of overwhelming anxiety and depression.\nWhat I would like to offer in this class is a way to make those two sometimes dueling sides of our natures meet and collaborate to make us whole. I want to help you cultivate a way to connect with that innocent maiden side and find its enormous power so that being pulled away from your tough-as-nails dark goddess of the underworld energy doesn’t break you down\, but instead re-invigorates you.\nIn this class\, I’ll cover aspects of the dual natures of the Persephone archetype\, apply that knowledge and understanding to our own experiences of lost innocence and cultivated experience\, and suggest ways we can reframe our connections with our “pre-trauma” selves that will empower us. Suggestions for Persephone-specific rituals and altar offerings will also be given. \n  \n  \nSusan Redington Bobby is a practicing witch and the founder of Professor of Words\, LLC\, where she is an online teacher\, an editor\, a writing mentor\, and a tutor. Her specialty is being able to read people on a deeper level through their writing. She is a retired professor of English with expertise in fairy tales\, adolescent literature\, goddess archetypes\, magical realism\, creative writing\, and film studies. It’s a wonderful way to make magic a way of life. \nIn this in-person workshop\, Sterling Moon will introduce participants to the magic of floorwashes. Floorwashes are essentially spells for changing the energy of a space\, dispelling what’s unwanted\, or calling in what’s desirable. The spell is “activated” through the mundane activity of mopping and wiping down commonly used spaces. They are a staple in many folk magic traditions. \nSterling will guide participants through making their own blends\, beyond throwing a bunch of herbs and curios together. Sterling will walk participants through divining what needs attention in their home or lives and the process of waking up and listening to the spirits of magical materia like herbs and curios\, ensuring that it all works in harmony. This class moves beyond generic products like Q Oil and Lavender Love Drops\, formulas that claim to address all queer desire\, to address the many forms of queer and trans love and lust from an inside perspective\, making it useful for both allies and members of the queer community. The attraction that a lesbian woman feels is very different from that of a gay man. Desire breaks down further into subtypes and preferences. \nAs an offering for magical workers both inside and outside of the queer community\, this class is expressly created to celebrate and share the knowledge of effective magic for queer love\, sex\, and romance. When queer\, trans\, lesbian\, and gay people cannot turn to the priests of the world for help\, the sorcerers must step in. \nThe magical tradition known as Rootwork has many answers to supply to today’s queer community if we merely scratch its surface and look beyond the bias of many historians. Everything from hunting tools to art have been found in archeological digs in various parts of the world. However\, obsidian’s most notable use as a divinatory tool is rooted in the ancient civilizations of Mesoamerica. Over time and because of the conquests\, these powerful mirrors used by the priests and seers of the indigenous people found their way into the hands if some notable occultists.\nObsidian mirrors and spheres can be much like keys to open doors\, allowing us to peer into what is normally unseen. Once we enter the doorway and learn to navigate through the smoke\, we have opportunities to gain insight into any questions we hold in our hearts\, connect with ancestors\, spirits and symbols that exist between the worlds. It can be used alongside other divination tools or standalone.\nObsidian can also be used to reveal and interact with the deepest parts of ourselves. This is more than what is known today as “shadow work”. This is the warriors journey of not only becoming aware of wounds that need healing but also the gifts that can be brought to the surface and fully embraced.\nIn this class we will discuss how to prepare prior to using obsidian for a divination or journeying session\, things be mindful of\, how to tether yourself\, how to retain information you receive and how to close the doorways once a session is complete.\nObsidian is in not a stone of “gentle love and light” and requires a lot from the practitioner to tap into all it has to offer. By delving into a selection of tales from different cultures\, tellers\, and traditions\, the class will center on the way authors describe natural elements and weave their meanings\, both symbolic and folkloric\, into the stories. Truly this set of tales would not be as powerful were it not for such varied supporting characters from the natural world. This class offers a new appreciation for every petal\, every leaf\, and every stem. \nSusan Redington Bobby is a practicing witch and the founder of Professor of Words\, LLC\, where she is an online teacher\, an editor\, a writing mentor\, and a tutor. Her specialty is being able to read people on a deeper level through their writing. She is a retired professor of English with expertise in fairy tales\, adolescent literature\, goddess archetypes\, magical realism\, creative writing\, and film studies.
