Please ensure you are able to attend the scheduled class time. \n  \nObsidian is one of the twenty-day signs of both the Maya and Azteca Calendars and practitioners of the healing arts have used it for hundreds of years. It is believed to heal the unhealable amongst indigenous practices and is valued across the globe for its multitude of attributes and beauty.\nIn this class\, we will discuss very specific modalities in which to use obsidian either on yourself or as a practitioner of healing modalities. As a knife it can cut away negative energy and vibrations of illness. As a disc or an egg\, it can be used it in trauma work to absorb pain\, inflammation and grief. The uses for obsidian are numerous and we will cover many- including actual examples of a variety of tools that I use within my private practice.\nObsidian is in not a stone of “gentle love and light” and requires a lot from the practitioner to tap into all it has to offer. The work starts with you and it is always a strong recommendation that this is considered as one starts to work with obsidian. This path can be described as a multifaceted blend of healing practices from the past and present that include indigenous folk medicine modalities from Mesoamerica to Africa and it strongly influenced by Spanish Spiritualism and Judaism. Her family roots are from Northern New Mexico and Southern Colorado where curanderismo was and still is an enriching and common way of life. Lisa’s grandmothers were her biggest influences providing her a lifelong apprenticeship. These teachings lead to the development of sacred connections with plants\, stones and spiritual practices that are used to help others in their journey to emotional\, mental\, physical and spiritual healing.\nPrivate sessions with Lisa are holistic and intuitive in nature and are personalized to include the body-mind-spirit connection in conjunction with the cosmic energies\, ancestors\, santos\, angels\, and guides. This lecture will be an exploration of several classic fairy tales from different eras\, authors\, and parts of the world\, that center on trees as protectors and guardians. Some attention will be given to scientific research about the sentience of trees and their behavior\, which will show that what we may think of as fairy-tale magic when it comes to trees may actually incorporate a bit of reality. The hope for the class is that you look at trees with either new or newfound knowledge and appreciation for the way they ground and watch over us. \nSusan Redington Bobby is a practicing witch and the founder of Professor of Words\, LLC\, where she is an online teacher\, an editor\, a writing mentor\, and a tutor. Her specialty is being able to read people on a deeper level through their writing. She is a retired professor of English with expertise in fairy tales\, adolescent literature\, goddess archetypes\, magical realism\, creative writing\, and film studies. She is the author of Beyond His Dark Materials\, the editor of Fairy Tales Reimagined\, and co-editor of The Artemis Archetype in Popular Culture. I will also discuss some of the indigenous protocols associated with feathers as well as the legalities regarding fathers. Working with the winged ones is a physical\, energetic and transformative process that occurs with patience. Taking care of these tools is just a small part of the responsibility that comes with the medicine. From then on\, she began to explore different methods of divination and fell in love with Lenormand\, a system of cartomancy originating in late 18th century Europe. Andrea’s style of reading cards could be described as pragmatic and deeply rooted in tradition\, influenced by a true reverence for the sibyls of the past.\nAs a teacher\, Andrea has both an academic and scholarly approach to the way that she presents her classes as well as sharing from her experiences and gnosis as a professional reader. She considers the Tarot to be a book of esoteric mysteries and has spent years of her life in studying and peeling back its many layers to share the knowledge and wisdom embedded in every card.
