It’s a wonderful way to make magic a way of life. \nIn this in-person workshop\, Sterling Moon will introduce participants to the magic of floorwashes. Floorwashes are essentially spells for changing the energy of a space\, dispelling what’s unwanted\, or calling in what’s desirable. The spell is “activated” through the mundane activity of mopping and wiping down commonly used spaces. They are a staple in many folk magic traditions. \nSterling will guide participants through making their own blends\, beyond throwing a bunch of herbs and curios together. Sterling will walk participants through divining what needs attention in their home or lives and the process of waking up and listening to the spirits of magical materia like herbs and curios\, ensuring that it all works in harmony. Everyone will leave with floorwashes that are uniquely their own magic. \nSterling is passionate about helping others find inspiration and guidance through tarot\, communication with spirits\, and old-timey folk magic.\nSterling has been reading tarot since 1995 and began offering readings and teaching professionally in 2013. I’ll cover what has worked for me\, how I wrote 2 books this way (in about 2 months total)\, plus several short stories and fairy tales\, and how you can try out some of these techniques to help you write more freely and without self-judgment. Understanding that editing is another step that can happen later\, we will be focusing on the act of creation of ideas\, and we will start by using imagery which I will bring as our prompts. You will have a little time during class to practice\, and are encouraged to share your work\, but are not under any obligation to do so. \nSusan Redington Bobby is a practicing witch and the founder of Professor of Words\, LLC\, where she is an online teacher\, an editor\, a writing mentor\, and a tutor. Her specialty is being able to read people on a deeper level through their writing. She is a retired professor of English with expertise in fairy tales\, adolescent literature\, goddess archetypes\, magical realism\, creative writing\, and film studies. She is the author of Beyond His Dark Materials\, the editor of Fairy Tales Reimagined\, and co-editor of The Artemis Archetype in Popular Culture. I will give a keynote presentation on sauna culture- the history\, rituals\, practices\, healing techniques\, folklore and more. I will discuss ways in which we can utilize this tradition in our modern lives\, as well as sharing my personal sauna rituals as a practitioner in the hopes of inspiring others to remember and reweave these practices in beneficial ways on the lands we live on today. \n  \nMissy Johanna Rhysing is an American woman practicing Nordic folk traditions in Denver\, CO and Mpls\, MN. Her people hail from Scandinavia\, Bohemia/Czech Republic\, France and England. She places great importance on working with our ancestral root cultures as a means of reclaiming and reweaving folk magic and medicine to improve our lives and our relationships with the lands we live on today.\nMissy’s trainings include Trolldom\, Nordic spirituality and animism\, Swedish massage\, past life regression\, meditation\, shiatsu\, tattooing\, folk herbal and nutritional support\, and more. Missy facilitates community sauna ceremonies and is passionate about sauna tradition and culture. She has been offered the name Völva\, or cunning woman\, and holds that close to her heart with great honor. She carries immense gratitude for her mentors\, spirit council\, and peers for the doors that have been opened to her and the blessings she has received.
