This meet-up is designed to be a facilitated space for those interested in tarot\, not a “class.” There will be two facilitators\, current readers here at Ritualcravt – Andrea Carla and Reese Quinn.  \nTarot meet-ups will start with a monthly topic discussion decided by your facilitators or the prior month’s group! Your facilitators will be there to offer topics for discussion\, hold space for questions\, encourage “practice” readings\, and provide time for intentional community building as it fits the group.  \nPlease come with your tarot deck and your curiosity! Tarot decks will also be available to borrow if you do not have your own just yet! \n  \nYOUR INSTRUCTORS: \nAndrea’s fascination with reading cards began from a young age after being introduced to the Smith-Waite Tarot. From then on\, she began to explore different methods of divination and fell in love with Lenormand\, a system of cartomancy originating in late 18th century Europe. Andrea’s style of reading cards could be described as pragmatic and deeply rooted in tradition\, influenced by a true reverence for the sibyls of the past. As a teacher\, Andrea has both an academic and scholarly approach to the way that she presents her classes as well as sharing from her experiences and gnosis as a professional reader. She considers the Tarot to be a book of esoteric mysteries and has spent years of her life in studying and peeling back its many layers to share the knowledge and wisdom embedded in every card. \nReese Quinn (she/they) is a tarot and astrology reader and what they lovingly call a practical witch. They have a strong awareness of the crossroads between astrology\, cartomancy\, and elemental practices. You’ll note that Reese embraces their queer\, intersectional identities when both teaching and reading. Reese has been a reader at Ritualcravt for over two years and has studied with well-known witches like Lindsay Mack and Pam Grossman and well-respected teachers locally in Denver. In 2021-2022\, they completed an apprenticeship with best-selling author and reader of 20+ years\, Stefanie Caponi. How can folk practitioners and witches interact with and petition these beings that are well-known for being Catholic? How does Saint magic interact with folk magic that is syncretized with Catholicism\, and can folks who aren’t Catholic even work with Saints? \nJoin Frankie Castanea for this virtual conversation into Saints as holy beings\, energetic signatures\, faces for earlier entities\, and their role in Italian-American and other folk magics. Please ensure you are able to attend the scheduled class time. \n  \nThis class is a 3-part series taking place on April 18th\, 6-8pm\, May 27th\, 6:30-8:30pm\, and June 24\, 6-8pm. Please take note of these dates now! About this series: \nClass 1: Meeting the Plants as Ancestors \n“Plants are our ancestors that are still alive” – Lisa Fazio. \nPart 1 of “Plants as Ancestors” is in April\, having to do with how we can approach plants as teachers and as living spirits with respect. This will tie in conversations around being on stolen land\, land sovereignty\, and how we can see plants not just as tools to be used\, but living forces that have so much to teach us. \nWe will talk in this class about what ancestral allies can feel like and look like\, a no versus a yes\, and finding plants your ancestors may have had a connection with and learning more about plants as vessels to connect with our ancestors. Part one will focus on all the practical elements – identifying these plants and ethical sourcing\, working with flower essences and plant matter in different preparations\, and how we can invite these ancestral allies into our life to strengthen our connection with the ancestors. \nStudents will leave this class with an understanding of how to approach and work with plants as teachers\, and will be instructed to do so before part two of the meeting so we can share our experiences in identifying\, sourcing\, and connecting with plant teachers. \nClass 2: Plants as Ancestors: Plant Share Circle \nPart 2 of “Plants as Ancestors” is in May\, as we move into spring time. This class will follow up on the first class and hold space for students to share their experiences with a plant teacher. This can be a space to share frustrations\, difficulties\, or exciting experiences and confirmations that we may have had in working with this teacher. \nPlant Ancestor Share is geared towards holding space for the nuances in working with plants and building community – it will allow us to not only share our experiences\, but lean into a guided meditation to meet plant ancestors\, continuing to build relationships with plants we met\, and ensuring that all students feel heard in their concerns\, frustrations\, and confirmations. \nClass 3: Plants as Ancestors: Moving Through the World \nPart 3 of “Plants as Ancestors” will look into how to apply what we learned not only from the plants\, but as animistic practitioners who can continue to form relationships with all living things moving forward. This section of the class focuses on moving through the world not just recognizing plants as tools\, but plants as allies and how to continue to foster relationships with not just plants\, but all living spirits and ancestral allies. \nThis class will discuss animistic pathways in folk magic\, rituals and ways of being to honor our ancestors\, intentionality in our day-to-day\, and discussions around working ritual and ceremony into daily life. During this in-person class we will talk about how dreams can be our very own divination oracle\, compass and guide\, if we learn to lean in and develop our relationship with them. Tools and practices are shared to invite your dreams closer while you are given instruction and ingredients to craft your very own dream incubation bundle to take home with you. *Bring your dream journal with you if you already have one or perhaps you’ll purchase one from the shop during class time. \n  \nYOUR INSTRUCTOR: \nEmily Duhaime has been a dreamer\, an artist and a magic-maker since early childhood and so it makes sense that these are inextricably interwoven in all aspects of her world. Emily is a soulful & creative life coach\, art therapist\, mentor\, guide\, artist and dreamer. Trained as a transpersonal psychotherapist and art therapist\, she provides soul-centered life coaching through art therapy\, dreamwork\, plant spirit guidance and self-designed ceremony support to those individuals who are called to step deeply in\, bridging their everyday and spiritual selves. \nShe graduated with a BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago\, IL and went on to earn an MA from Naropa University\, CO\, practicing as a licensed transpersonal art psychotherapist for over 20 years. These two companion films present unlikely heroic characters—children—who become the moral and symbolic center of the force that fights the oppressor\, breaking open the mundane world and imbuing it with the power of magic\, vanquishing evil. Though their mortal lives are tragically ephemeral\, these children heroically teach us about the immense power of magic in triumphing over the forces of darkness. Join me for a deep dive into these two films\, discovering deeper symbolism and meaning\, appreciating how del Toro affirms how formidable magic is in the face of forces that wish to dehumanize and subjugate us. These magical realist films are thus sources of inspiration for us through these dark times\, reminding us of the value of our own magic. And if time permits\, I’d love to have a discussion on the many ways we can connect with our own magical power to help ourselves and each other fight the power of authoritarianism. \n  \nYOUR INSTRUCTOR \nSusan Redington Bobby\, the founder of Professor of Words\, LLC\, is an online teacher\, a freelance editor\, a writing mentor\, and a tutor. There will be great emphasis on Midsommar\, the high holiday of summer\, and I will share the history\, magic\, medicine\, folklore and rituals of this holy day past and present. We will discuss ways to utilize these Scandinavian ancestral traditions in modern ways on the lands we live on today. \n  \nYOUR INSTRUCTOR: \nMissy Johanna Rhysing is a Swedish-American woman who grew up in the Swedish diaspora in Minnesota\, and is the owner and founder of Ritualcravt in Colorado.
