SUMMARY:{IN PERSON} The Witch's Circle & Crossroads
DESCRIPTION:This class is IN PERSON. TICKETS ARE NOT TRANSFERABLE. Class fees are non transferable\, we stick to the student agreements agreed upon during registration. Please ensure you are able to attend the scheduled class time. \n  \nIn the words of Victor Anderson\, a witch’s circle is “a magnifying glass to the Gods.” Casting circles is an important first step to most rituals – it can serve as protection\, cleansing\, and focus. It can create the “cauldron” of our ritual\, into which we can add the ingredients of the magic we want to brew.  \n  \nThough perhaps lesser known\, crossroads are another traditional witch’s tool that we open in order to see between worlds and converse with spirits. In this workshop\, we will dive deeply into each of these tools\, finding creative and intentional ways to set up ritual space to best serve the magic we seek. \n  \nIn this workshop we will: \n  \n\nWork with grounding & alignment to locate and build self-sovereignty\nPlay witchy games to practice feeling and sensing energy\nHone our ability to direct energy through multiple methods of circle casting\nInvoke and dance with our divine selves\nLearn some about the history of witch’s association with crossroads\nOpen the crossroads and listen for the spirits that arrive\n\n  \nWhat to Bring: \n\nWhatever you need to be comfortable for two hours – cushion\, blanket\, water\nWand for circle casting if that’s your jam (or we’ll just use hands if you don’t have one)\n\n  \nAll are welcome. You do not need to have magical experience or identify as a witch to join! Sliding scale pricing is offered for this class at three different price points. \n \nYOUR INSTRUCTOR: \nSilen Wellington (they/he) is a ritualist\, storyteller\, composer\, poet\, genderqueer shapeshifter\, mercurial name collector\, and lover\, among other things. They facilitate groups\, rituals\, support circles\, interactive performances\, and creative workshops. They are a witch and teacher in the Reclaiming Tradition of witchcraft and an Initiate of the Wildwood Tradition. They have been practicing witchcraft since 2015\, teaching since 2021\, and remembering witchcraft their entire life. A lover of thresholds\, their witchcraft weaves together animism\, sound\, play\, ritual\, performance\, poetry\, and devotion. They practice to deepen communion with Mystery\, to show up and be fully present in the world\, and to steward better futures. In all aspects of their life\, Silen aims to create spaces that provoke people to come closer to their authentic selves. Learn more about Silen on Instagram: @silen_creature or on their website: silenwellington.com.

SUMMARY:{IN PERSON} Denver Astrology Meetup
DESCRIPTION:PLEASE READ: This class is IN PERSON. TICKETS ARE NOT TRANSFERABLE. Class fees are non transferable\, we stick to the student agreements agreed upon during registration. Please ensure you are able to attend the scheduled class time. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Denver Astrology Group is a local astrological organization that meets on the second Sunday of each month in the greater Denver metropolitan area. \nOur mission is to cultivate a vibrant and engaged community in Colorado where astrologers can connect\, network\, and share knowledge with one another. \nWe focus primarily on organizing monthly meetings and workshops designed to educate\, inspire\, and promote a wide range of astrological traditions and practices. \nOur gatherings are open to everyone; professional astrologers\, dedicated enthusiasts\, and those simply curious to learn more about astrology. Whether you are a complete beginner or a seasoned practitioner\, all are welcome\, and each meeting offers the opportunity to discover something new and meaningful. \n\nOCTOBER MEETUP: \n\n\n\nHello fellow astrology enthusiasts! \nFor this month’s Denver Astrology Meetup\, we’ll be exploring the zodiac through an ecological lens with poet Sara Slingerland Sheiner in her presentation\, ASTRO-ECOLOGIES: A Poet’s Musings on the Sensuousness of the Zodiac. \nRather than approaching the twelve signs solely through personality traits\, keywords\, or abstract archetypes\, this presentation will explore the signs as living environments and ecological systems. How might an exploration of the landscapes\, climates\, creatures\, and resources of each sign give us a more deeply felt experience of our birth charts? \nBy looking at the natural world as a reflection of astrological archetypes\, we can begin to consider not only what a sign represents\, but how those particular places might feel\, taste\, smell\, and sound. \nMusings for this meetup include: \n• Ecological and environmental symbolism within the zodiac \n• The relationship between terrain\, climate\, and astrological archetypes \n• How animals and their habitats can illuminate the symbolism of the signs \n• The relationship between elemental & modal qualities and environmental conditions \n• Examples of how observing the natural world can deepen our understanding of familiar zodiacal symbolism \nSara’s approach invites us to reconsider the zodiac as something more than a collection of abstract characteristics. This presentation will offer a new framework for thinking about familiar astrological symbolism and encouraging attendees to engage with the zodiac through observation\, imagination\, and the natural world. \nWhether you’re a practicing astrologer\, a student of the craft\, or simply interested in the relationship between astrology and the world around us\, this conversation offers an opportunity to look at the zodiac from an entirely different and sense-based perspective. \nWe use a sliding scale to help make this event accessible to people of varying economic means. We kindly ask that you contribute the highest amount within that range that you can comfortably afford. \nThe store will be open\, so feel free to come early or stay late for all your occult supply needs! Limited lot parking is available\, as well as additional parking around the back of the building. \nStay up-to-date\, submit feedback\, or apply to be a guest speaker yourself at @DenverAstroMeetup on Instagram\, TikTok\, and YouTube. \nFor any questions or concerns\, reach out to Rosalie at DenverAstroMeetup@gmail.com \nWe’re looking forward to seeing you there! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYOUR INSTRUCTORS: \n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent instructors vary from month to month and feature guest speakers from diverse astrological backgrounds\, each bringing their own areas of expertise and perspective.

SUMMARY:{VIRTUAL} Folklore and Spirits in Southern Folk Magic

Registration closes one hour prior to class beginning. \n  \nWe often wonder what goes bump in the night. The blue bottles in the yard high in the trees\, the haint blue porch ceilings\, and the Man at the Crossroads\, bringing to life the rich folklore that is in the South of the United States. In this class\, we will be discussing the folklore associated with the southern part of the country\, where these myths and spirits originated from\, and how to combat them if necessary. This class will equip each student with a knowledge of how to work the land in which these creatures dwell\, and how to defend oneself magically if need be. \n  \nYOUR INSTRUCTOR \nGabriel Varzalyi-Lopez is a biracial Virginia-born folk practitioner\, a devotee to his ancestors\, spirits of nature\, and the God and Goddess of his mother and father. He is a seer\, diviner\, spiritual medium\, and conjurer trained in the Marigny neighborhood of New Orleans. While being dedicated to his spiritual work for over a decade\, while also assisting the community in his legal profession through his daily life\, Gabriel sees the balance that both the spiritual world and material world have in the progression of someone’s life. Born from a lineage of witches\, orthodox priests\, farmers\, artists\, and at times rebellious characters\, he understands the process by which messages are received from Spirit\, allowing for a different type of magical work to occur. Gabriel is also a writer for Witches Magazine under his mundane alias\, an independent magazine based in the United Kingdom. An adventurous spirit\, Gabriel feels and hears the call of spirit through winding southern brooks and on high mountain peaks\, observing the simple magics that each of us cherishes in our everyday lives.
