The history of this movement is often forgotten today\, yet Natural Magic ideas form the basis of Witchcraft\, Folk Magic\, and many other forms of magical practice. \nFrom the middle ages to the renaissance\, the concept of “Natural Magic” arose in the work of magical writers like Cornelius Agrippa\, Hildegard of Bingen\, Al Kindi\, & Paracelsus. These writers’ perspectives often clashed with religious authorities even as they moved in tandem with proto-scientific investigations of the natural world. \nThis class will celebrate the forgotten history of the Natural Magic texts which form the backbone of witchcraft and magical thought today\, and introduce the broad strokes of several thinkers of the past around the Natural Magic concept\, along with providing many threads for further exploration by the curious. \nOn a practical\, hands-on level\, this class will investigate the connections between organic magical materials and their spirits\, as well as the ways magic practitioners interact within the interconnected web of beings that make up our world in order to weave the stories they wish to create. \n“The soul is a breath of living spirit that permeates the entire body to give it life. In the same way\, the breath of the air makes the earth fruitful with plants.
