SUMMARY:{IN PERSON SERIES} QUINTESSENTIAL TAROT-a five session series
DESCRIPTION:Please read class description in its entirety. This for is for IN PERSON registration only. \nTICKETS ARE NOT TRANSFERABLE. \nClass fees are non transferable\, please note that we stick to the student agreements clicked on during registration. Please ensure you are able to attend the scheduled class time. \nBegins September 22 @ 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm (and then the next four Sundays\, through Oct. 20) \nQ: How can I plan for a future that’s unknown?\nA: By knowing – by having more information!\nThe Tarot is a tool to illuminate our personal road maps. It overlaps many other disciplines\, all expressed here though art. Specifically\, this is art that delivers practical information wrapping in a sensory visual experience. As we craft an ever-stronger working alliance with the cards\, magic happens. \nWe’ll begin with a thorough Tarot orientation:\nThe first session explores the Minor Arcana via the elements;\nthe next will cover the Court Cards\, for identity and connection;\nand in the third week\, we’ll get into myths and archetypes with the Major Arcana.\nThen we’ll take this material into alliance-deepening personal work in session 4;\nwith the final session focused on reading the Tarot for ourselves and for others\, and on using the cards for maximum personal creativity and well-being. \nThis series is for beginners and beyond. Please allow for spending some time each week on personal practice between class sessions.\nPlease bring:
— Note-taking materials
— A fully illustrated tarot deck\, i.e. instead of simply seeing three Cups\, you’ll see people/beings interacting with three Cups. I recommend the Smith-Waite tarot deck (aka Rider-Waite-Smith\, RWS)\, or a deck derived from it. Ritualcravt carries several different versions\, and I’ll have loaner decks on hand the first night\, so you can see several before making your own choice.\nFee: $175. Every session of the course includes:\n— Extensive handout pages\n— Hands-on practice with readings and exercises \nRenna Shesso is a witch\, tarot reader\, shamanic practitioner\, and author. She’s been reading cards professionally for over 20 years\, and using tarot as a personal tool of exploration for much longer.

SUMMARY:{VIRTUAL} GUILLERMO DEL TORO DOUBLE FEATURE: THE DEVILS BACKBONE & PAN'S LABYRINTH

Please ensure you are able to attend the scheduled class time. \nRegistration will close one hour prior to class starting. \n  \nWhen Guillermo del Toro pitched The Devil’s Backbone\, he said\, “I want to do a film about some kids in an orphanage during the Spanish Civil War–and oh yeah\, one of them’s dead.” Years later\, in the film Pan’s Labyrinth\, we hear a voice-over open the film by describing a young girl who came from another world\, suffered in this one\, then died. Though their lives are tragically ephemeral\, these children form the moral and symbolic centers of each story and teach us about the immense power of magic. \nMany do not know these films are connected\, in that del Toro sees Pan’s Labryinth as a sequel to The Devil’s Backbone\, but they are deeply entwined\, through time period\, historical events\, politics\, child protagonists\, life vs. death\, “fairy” godparent figures\, themes\, and even elements of the cinematography\, with imagery and sets designed to create mirror imagery from one film to the other. Join me for a very thorough look at these two films and learn more about each of them both separately and linked together; discover deeper symbolism\, meanings\, and develop even more appreciation for the genius that is Guillermo del Toro. \nSusan Redington Bobby is a practicing witch and the founder of Professor of Words\, LLC\, where she is an online teacher\, an editor\, a writing mentor\, and a tutor. Her specialty is being able to read people on a deeper level through their writing. She is a retired professor of English with expertise in fairy tales\, adolescent literature\, goddess archetypes\, magical realism\, creative writing\, and film studies. She is the author of Beyond His Dark Materials\, the editor of Fairy Tales Reimagined\, and co-editor of The Artemis Archetype in Popular Culture. The Series Editor of Tales from Fiddler’s Green\, she also publishes creative fiction under the pen name Miranda Rey. She is currently studying the Bardic Course in Druidry from OBOD (the Order of Bards\, Ovates\, and Druids). She maintains Mellie’s Grove\, a certified backyard wildlife habitat that is home to a rescued and stabilized cat colony and all manner of wildlife. \n
