We’ll discuss a variety of vinegar infusions\, and a handful of great herbs and plants to keep in your back pocket during cold and flu season. You will also have the opportunity to create your own vinegar infusion of your choice- a fire cider\, oxymel\, or shrub! \nMamie Trotter is the herbalist behind Herbal Riot- a small herbal business located in Denver. Mamie believes that knowledge of plant medicine is meant to be shared and multiplied. There is truly nothing more empowering than knowing that you can create medicines to help your family and friends. Come prepared to get your hands a little dirty\, and to dip your toes in the pond of herbal medicine. \nPlease come with your own cutting board\, knife\, and a 32oz wide mouth jar! Please ensure you are able to attend the scheduled class time. \nRegistration will close one hour prior to class starting. \nThis online class will begin with a look at Saint Expedite from a historical basis\, i.e.\, what we know vs. what we don’t really know and where there is variation from tradition to tradition. There will be brief coverage of the various related traditions worldwide and how Expedite is called and utilized before we move on to the traditions most familiar within the United States as they relate to New Orleans Voudo\, conjure\, the deep south\, and to a much lesser extent Appalachia. Attention will be paid\, of course\, to the decidedly Christian origins of Saint Expedite\, though students will be encouraged to see beyond that limitation. Care will be placed to limit the amount of Christianity used\, where appropriate\, in an effort to encourage those who might avoid the power of the Saints due to trauma surrounding organized religion\, abuse\, and the church’s misuse of sacred power. This will set the foundation for the practicum\, where students will learn about altars\, offerings\, statues and prayer cards\, incense\, oils\, candles\, prayers\, devotions\, novenas\, spells\, talismans\, and the materia magicka associated with Saint Expedite. This two hour workshop aims to deliver the student not only the information needed to begin to work with Saint Expedite but the confidence to approach him immediately and begin a beneficial magickal relationship as soon as they get home!\nWelburn Hiram Kemp hails from the dark and bloody ground of Eastern Kentucky. A born Appalachian\, Welburn was steeped in folklore\, folk magick\, conjure\, and is from a long line of preachers and faith healers who brought old time remedies\, wisdom through religion\, and powerful magick holler to holler for nearly 200 years. Welburn has honed his craft and expanded his studies living in the Deep South\, studying herbs & roots and conjure in New Orleans\, the graveyards\, the high places\, and even locations far beyond that. A student of magick\, in general\, Welburn blends ceremonial magick\, conjure\, and the folk magick and conjure of his folks in Appalachia into a unique amalgamation that produces a wide array of powerful oils\, powders\, amulets\, talismans\, charms\, and curios. A deep understanding of the role of the Bible in magick\, particularly the Psalms\, informs the base of his work as he leans into serving the community as his forebears did in their day. Welburn is now bringing his love of the work to the fore and taking on an even greater mission of teaching and passing on the knowledge and lore he has so painstakingly learned over the years. Through exploring our previous lives\, we can move towards healing\, reclaiming\, and releasing in our current life. We can gather new understandings of patterns and behaviors\, reclaim gifts and strengths\, and even end commitments made in past lives that are no longer serving us.\nWe will begin with a brief discussion and explanation of past life work\, move into the meditation\, and end with a bit of processing and discussion. These two figures are shown in Celtic tradition as the transition from spring and summer to autumn and winter. We will examine how the Celtic folk viewed and celebrated these spiritual beings as well as the history of their respected counterparts. We will also discuss the simple rituals and festivals that go hand and hand with these concepts and how they relate to the modern world. \nGabriel Varzal is a tarot reader\, medium\, and generational practitioner. Learning at a very young age from his grandmother\, Gabriel understood the importance of the ancestors and the spirits of the land and sea.
