In fact\, through the centuries\, tarot-astro connections have wandered throughout the sky\, pairing the planets and constellations in completely different ways. We’ll look at several key decks-of-old – Etteilla\, Wirth\, Falconnier\, and Picard – for unique astro-associations\, perspectives\, insights and knowledge in each. Registration closes one hour prior to class beginning. \n  \nWe are holding a monthly gathering for those who wish to work on their crafts (knitting\, crocheting\, stitching\, jewelry-making\, writing\, drawing\, you name it!) in the shared space of a zoom call. We are seeking self-care\, community\, and creative expression in a group that will welcome and encourage conversation and connection\, though there is no requirement to speak or to even have your screen on if you’d rather be anonymous and just “be” with us! \nLet’s face it\, our world demands constant productivity often for the sake of others. I often think that we are led to believe “how can we craft at a time like this?” But this is precisely the moment to engage in what makes us feel happy and at peace. We will reclaim the energy and beauty of crafting for the sake of personal fulfillment and relaxation. All skill levels and craft mediums are welcome in these gatherings that will be like book clubs\, but for crafts. We will set a theme for each session so you can consider it or even journal on it before attending\, and in our meetings\, you will have an opportunity to share with others\, if you choose\, while I will facilitate. Note that these are not lectures or classes but more like free-form meetings in a safe space\, with 3 price levels so you can choose what works best for you economically. \nDecember’s Theme:\nCrafts as Spellwork: think about whether you have connected your craft(s) with spellwork or ritual in the past. Has it been effective for you? If you have not connected your craft(s) with spellwork or ritual\, would you like to\, and what might be some ways you might go about doing that? Do you think your craft(s) aligns better with one particular type of spell or is it malleable? \n  \nYOUR INSTRUCTOR \nSusan Redington Bobby\, the founder of Professor of Words\, LLC\, is an online teacher\, a freelance editor\, a writing mentor\, and a tutor. Her specialty is being able to read people on a deeper level through their writing\, and she has recently completed a certificate course on integrative somatic trauma therapy.  She is a retired professor of English with expertise in fairy tales\, adolescent literature\, goddess archetypes\, magical realism\, creative writing\, and film studies. She is the author of Beyond His Dark Materials\, the editor of Fairy Tales Reimagined\, and co-editor of The Artemis Archetype in Popular Culture. The Series Editor of Tales from Fiddler’s Green\, she also occasionally publishes creative fiction. She is currently studying the Bardic Course in Druidry from OBOD. She maintains Mellie’s Grove\, a certified NWF backyard wildlife habitat that is home to a rescued and small stabilized cat family and all manner of wildlife.

Registration closes one hour prior to class beginning. \n  \nAlongside the summer ancestor festival of Obon\, Oshogatsu is one of the most sacred of Japanese animist and magical traditions.  During the Japanese New Year\, we welcome Toshigami into our homes.  Traditions vary as to whether Toshigami is the kami of the New Year\, grain or our collective ancestors\, but the principle remains that we must prepare our homes for their arrival.  In this hybrid class\, we will cover the history of this sacred holiday and the rituals associated with it\, including cleansing and purifying\, cord cutting\, sacred decor\, traditional foods\, and the closing of the spiritual container that is held during this time.  This class will include a small tasting of osechi ryori (New Years dishes).  For those especially sensitive\, the dishes will be separated to not cross-contaminate allergens.  Allergens: fish\, shellfish\, soy\, kelp\, egg\, chestnuts\, legumes. \n  \nYOUR INSTRUCTOR \nAkemi Tsutsui-Kunitake is a visual artist\, karate-ka and creator of Live Deliciously. Based in Denver\, her work is informed by her identity as a third and fourth-generation (sansei-han and yonsei)\, mixed-race Japanese American. Her artwork blends themes of Japanese folklore with Western mysticism. She is inspired by the intersectionality of cultural tradition\, ancestral wisdom and modern identity. She is a lifelong student of Shotokan karate-do under the instruction of her father\, Isao Gary Tsutsui\, at Colorado Budokan. \nAkemi has also been fortunate to train with masters of other karate styles in California\, Hawaii and Japan. As karate embodies so many elements that are integral to the Japanese American experience\, she describes karate as her ethnic and spiritual identity in motion. With a formal education in Ethnic Studies\, Akemi has worked in the fields of culturally specific education\, advocacy and holistic health. She has continued her studies through courses on Japanese energetic healing\, Shinto\, deep ancestral work and radical community care. Akemi is a frequent collaborator with the Japanese Arts Network as a Cultural Consultant and artistic partner.
