From the haints and kitchen witchery to the pacts made at the crossroads\, this lively tradition holds secrets that are seen with the naked eye. This course is designed to explore the herbal and non-herbal materia that this folk magic tradition uses in everyday practice. From the soothing herbs of lavender\, to the ensnarement of Devil’s Shoestring\, we will be discussing the uses of the materia and what days of the week to use said materials. \n  \nYOUR INSTRUCTOR \nGabriel Varzalyi-Lopez is a biracial Virginia-born folk practitioner\, a devotee to his ancestors\, spirits of nature\, and the God and Goddess of his mother and father. He is a seer\, diviner\, spiritual medium\, and conjurer trained in the Marigny neighborhood of New Orleans. While being dedicated to his spiritual work for over a decade\, while also assisting the community in his legal profession through his daily life\, Gabriel sees the balance that both the spiritual world and material world have in the progression of someone’s life. Born from a lineage of witches\, orthodox priests\, farmers\, artists\, and at times rebellious characters\, he understands the process by which messages are received from Spirit\, allowing for a different type of magical work to occur. Gabriel is also a writer for Witches Magazine under his mundane alias\, an independent magazine based in the United Kingdom. An adventurous spirit\, Gabriel feels and hears the call of spirit through winding southern brooks and on high mountain peaks\, observing the simple magics that each of us cherishes in our everyday lives.

This meet-up is designed to be a facilitated space for those interested in tarot\, not a “class.”  \nTarot meet-ups will start with a monthly topic discussion decided by your facilitator or the prior month’s group! Your facilitator will be there to offer topics for discussion\, hold space for questions\, encourage “practice” readings\, and provide time for intentional community building as it fits the group.\nPlease come with your tarot deck and your curiosity! Tarot decks will also be available to borrow if you do not have your own just yet! \n  \nYOUR INSTRUCTOR: \nReese Quinn (she/they) is a tarot and astrology reader and what they lovingly call a practical witch. They have a strong awareness of the crossroads between astrology\, cartomancy\, and elemental practices. You’ll note that Reese embraces their queer\, intersectional identities when both teaching and reading. Reese has been a reader at Ritualcravt for over two years and has studied with well-known witches like Lindsay Mack and Pam Grossman and well-respected teachers locally in Denver. In 2021-2022\, they completed an apprenticeship with best-selling author and reader of 20+ years\, Stefanie Caponi. Please ensure you are able to attend the scheduled class time. \n  \nYou’re invited to hang out with Tyler Thrasher and his team for an evening composing your own potted glowing garden with Moonbeam flora. Each flower in your arrangement will be phosphorescent (glow in the dark). Each garden will glow and last for decades to come. \n\n\nYOUR INSTRUCTOR:\n\nWith an undying love for nature and its respective curiosities\, there are few things Tyler’s brain isn’t obsessing over. Between his pursuits to crystallize the world\, opalize everything\, and hunt down some of the realm’s most unique plants\, his passion to combine art and science every step of the way is his fire and fuel. \nTyler has a wide range of projects under his belt including but not limited to crystallizing insects\, creating some of the world’s first and only opalized insects and flowers\, hybridizing plants and creating new cultivars\, capturing the natural world through illustration\, creating a series of scientific and strange alchemy inspired toys\, tending to gardens of dried glowing flora and a few published books including “The Wisdom of the Furnace”\, “Grow a Damn” and his new book “The Universe in 100 colors”.
