SUMMARY:{IN PERSON} Practical Magic Series- The Magic of the Apothecary from the Tub to the Teacup
DESCRIPTION:This class is IN PERSON. TICKETS ARE NOT TRANSFERABLE. Class fees are non transferable\, we stick to the student agreements agreed upon during registration. Please ensure you are able to attend the scheduled class time. \n  \nIn this class we will dive into the many ways plants can support our magical work and discuss resources to get you started on your journey to build relationships with our herbal allies. This class will be especially helpful for those who may not have a good foundation of herbal magic knowledge and feel overwhelmed with where to start. \nWe will have examples of great resources\, a variety of methods to start you on your magical plant journey and you will leave with a bundle of goods! \n  \nYOUR INSTRUCTOR: \nLisa Martinez is a board-certified Doctor of Natural Medicine who walks the traditional healing and spiritual path of Curanderismo. This path can be described as a multifaceted blend of healing practices from the past and present that include indigenous folk medicine modalities from Mesoamerica to Africa and it strongly influenced by Spanish Spiritualism and Judaism. Her family roots are from Northern New Mexico and Southern Colorado where curanderismo was and still is an enriching and common way of life. Lisa’s grandmothers were her biggest influences providing her a lifelong apprenticeship. These teachings lead to the development of sacred connections with plants\, stones and spiritual practices that are used to help others in their journey to emotional\, mental\, physical and spiritual healing. \nPrivate sessions with Lisa are holistic and intuitive in nature and are personalized to include the body-mind-spirit connection in conjunction with the cosmic energies\, ancestors\, santos\, angels\, and guides. Her therapies and modalities utilize a variety of traditional techniques such as platica (heart to heart conversation)\, body work\, sacred plants\, aromatherapy\, dream analysis and use of obsidian to encourage and engage the body’s innate healing response. Her practice also includes limpias (spiritual cleansings) and end of life transitions. \nLisa is a registered Psychotherapist with the State of Colorado. She is a student of La Maestra Clarissa Pinkola Estés and has attended many years of her trainings via the Archetypal and Cross Cultural Studies Institute. She is also a participant of The International Collaboration of Indigenous Healers\, Curanderos\, Sanadores y Shamans which originated in the sacred mountains of the Tepoztlan Valley in Mexico. \nWhen able\, Lisa supports clinical sites and community outreach operations in collaboration with others in the Denver Metro area providing culturally based services and education.

SUMMARY:{VIRTUAL} Writing the Mythic Dark: A Gothic Storytelling Workshop
DESCRIPTION:PLEASE READ: VIRTUAL ZOOM CLASSES OPERATE AS LIVE CLASSES ONLY\, WE DO NOT RECORD TO PROTECT THE INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY OF OUR TEACHERS. This class is not an in-person class\, it is a live\, online only offering. Your zoom link will be attached to your ticket. Please also check your junk\, spam and promotions folders in your email for your ticket. Email learn@ritualcravt.com with any questions. Classes are in MDT time zone. Class fees are non transferable\, we stick to the student agreements agreed upon during registration. Registration closes one hour prior to class beginning. \n  \nMany of us are drawn irrevocably to the Gothic\, a tradition that combines both beauty and terror. For some of us who love to read and watch stories in this genre\, we feel called to create our own visions of beautiful darkness. To bring these tales to the surface\, we will ground ourselves in the origins and prominent voices of Gothic literature before diving into the bones of the Gothic story\, examining the most evocative locations and atmospheres\, the symbolic objects laden with the weight of memory\, and the monsters whose wounded pasts affect the way they reveal themselves in the present. \nInspired by the work of Guillermo del Toro in films like The Devil’s Backbone and Crimson Peak\, we will learn how to create a story where the setting lives and breathes\, the objects speak\, and the monsters both terrify and provoke empathy. We will also cover elements of craft—point of view\, tense\, color palette\, and the storytelling philosophy of Edgar Allan Poe—that will help you craft the architecture of your tale. You’ll leave class with a copy of The Cabinet of Curiosities\, which includes the frameworks\, key references\, and prompts that you can return to after our time concludes. \n  \nYOUR INSTRUCTOR \nSusan Redington Bobby\, the founder of Professor of Words\, LLC\, is an online teacher\, a freelance editor\, a writing mentor\, and a tutor. Her specialty is being able to read people on a deeper level through their writing\, and she has recently completed a certificate course on integrative somatic trauma therapy.  She is a retired professor of English with expertise in fairy tales\, adolescent literature\, goddess archetypes\, magical realism\, creative writing\, and film studies. She is the author of Beyond His Dark Materials\, the editor of Fairy Tales Reimagined\, and co-editor of The Artemis Archetype in Popular Culture. The Series Editor of Tales from Fiddler’s Green\, she also occasionally publishes creative fiction. She is currently studying the Bardic Course in Druidry from OBOD. She maintains Mellie’s Grove\, a certified NWF backyard wildlife habitat that is home to a rescued and small stabilized cat family and all manner of wildlife.
