“Shape the course of my life with luminous light
And make it laden with good things,
Drive sickness and evil from my limbs.
And when my soul rages about worldly things,
Deliver me purified by your soul-stirring rituals.”
-from Proclus Hymn to Hekate and Janus
Hekate, triple-formed, liminal goddess of the ancient world, presiding over heavens, sea, and earth is said to be present at boundaries and life transitions. The apotropaic (evil-averting) protector takes numerous forms, a pre-OIympian Titan, here before Zeus, who is a deity of magic and sorcery, light and dark, earthly and dead, also known as the Goddess of witches.
In this hour-long devotion to Hekate, we will meditate in the liminal space between the conscious and pre-conscious to an ambient sonic bath, readings from various texts, culminating in a group ritual at the crossroads.
