This class will be virtual and will require you to gather your own supplies.

Spellwork and craft are close cousins. When we use our hands and our hearts, when we take time to meditate on a desire, and when we end that meditation with a physical reminder of the work, the intention and the time spent, that is spellcrafting. Going into the new year with ‘resolutions’ is daunting and we often ‘fail.’ But if the intention isn’t resolution; if the intention is just focus and work; if we repeat that intention and we take the time to remember why it’s important, then maybe things will shift.
In this class we will use simple stitches and patterns to ‘craft’ spells and set intentions. We’ll find our goals and tie simple words or mantras to every stitch. We’ll use the age-old art of embroidery to set our spells as beautiful, tactile creations.
Michelle will teach a few basic embroidery stitches and share a few suggestions of pattern/design ideas after leading an intention-setting meditatiation and helping you link those intentions to the designs.

You’ll need to have
(all can be found easily at any fabric or craft shop… or Grandma’s craft closet)

Small embroidery hoop
Linen or embroidery cloth (you won’t need more than what will fill your hoop)
A few shades of white, off white or beige embroidery floss
Embroidery needle
Pencil
Scissors
Journal or scratch paper

Michelle VanderHouwen is the owner of Oak and Hawthorn and provides the plant babies for Ritualcravt’s annual plant sale.

Throughout all her years, she has studied art as a window into Spirit and the psyche, and Nature has been her church. Michelle believes that our hands are magnificent communicators.
