How do you talk to Gods, Ancestors, spiritual allies, or other beings? How might you invite them to your ritual? How do you get out of the “script” of ritual and invoke divine beings in ways that truly move you? 

This workshop is a deep dive on invocations, an important tool used in ritual to work with those allies who aid and sponsor the magic you want to bring forth. We will explore invocations not as a command, but as a calling, an invitation, a seduction, a flirtation with the Gods, spirits, plants, and other beings who may want to join us. 

In this workshop we will:

• Create sacred space through grounding, circle casting & calling to the Elements
• Trance to meet our allies in the spiritual realm
• Explore what invocations are & why they’re important
• Play with writing prompts to try on different ways of calling to the Elements, Gods, or other allies of our choosing
• Get creative with sound and movement as channels of power and communication.

What to Bring:

• Whatever you need to be comfortable for two hours – cushion, blanket, water
• If you are called – an altar item for any energies you want to call in (be that Elements, specific spirits, or Ancestors)

This workshop will help you develop a deeper capacity to communicate with the unseen, and a deeper relationship to the living animacy in all things. All are welcome. You do not need to have magical experience or identify as a witch to join!

YOUR INSTRUCTOR:

Silen Wellington (they/he) is a ritualist, storyteller, composer, poet, genderqueer shapeshifter, mercurial name collector, and lover, among other things. They facilitate groups, rituals, support circles, interactive performances, and creative workshops. They are a witch and teacher in the Reclaiming Tradition of witchcraft and an Initiate of the Wildwood Tradition. They have been practicing witchcraft since 2015, teaching since 2021, and remembering witchcraft their entire life. A lover of thresholds, their witchcraft weaves together animism, sound, play, ritual, performance, poetry, and devotion. They practice to deepen communion with Mystery, to show up and be fully present in the world, and to steward better futures.
